Miss the days of picking up the hot new VHS tape or listening to music on the latest Walkman? Well, strap in, because we’re headed back to the ’90s.

The last decade of the 20th century gave us plenty of gifts — *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys among them — but what’s still bringing people joy are TV shows from that period. Kids nowadays would be shocked by how easily — and hard — we’d laugh over dependable gimmicks like a teenager chugging a liter of orange soda or even a tall, strange man sliding through his neighbor’s doorway.

With that era forever in style, we’ve put together this list of ’90s shows that you’ve been waiting on. Read on for a mix of shows that aired back then or are set in the decade — all here for your throwback enjoyment.

That '90s Show

It’s been more than 15 years since the conclusion of That ’70s Show, but you’ll get to return to Point Place, Wisconsin, when That ’90s Show premieres on Jan. 19. The sequel series — co-created by Bonnie and Terry Turner, the married duo behind That ’70s Show — picks up in the summer of 1995 when Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), the daughter of Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon), stays with her grandparents for the summer. Soon enough, Leia is following in her parents’ footsteps, which means having basement hangs with troublemaking friends, as well as getting a good dose of cookies from Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) and yelling from Red (Kurtwood Smith). Viewers will also be able to catch up with the old gang when Eric, Donna, Fez (Wilmer Valderrama), Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) and Jackie (Mila Kunis) reprise their roles for guest appearances. And, as we know, the basement is open to all visitors — that is, until Red kicks them out. Burn!

Seinfeld

It might be a show about nothing, but everything about Seinfeld screams the ’90s. Hailing from the mighty comedy duo of Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, the iconic sitcom got off to a sluggish start when it premiered in 1989, then titled The Seinfeld Chronicles. But with a name change and a decade shift, Seinfeld quickly became one of the most celebrated series on TV, with awards recognition, record-breaking ratings (76.3 million people watched the 1998 finale) and memorable episodes that are still in the pop culture lexicon today, from the sexual shenanigans of “The Contest” to the introduction of Festivus in “The Strike.” And even if some of the plotlines or comedy feel very ’90s, it doesn’t matter how long it’s been since Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) danced like a maniac, George (Jason Alexander) contended that he was suffering from shrinkage or Kramer (Michael Richards) walked through that door, you’ll be sick from laughing so hard. Unfortunately, there will be no soup for you!

Derry Girls

Inspired by creator Lisa McGee’s experiences growing up in Derry, Northern Ireland, Derry Girls is set in the 1990s against the backdrop of the final years of the Troubles. The cheery coming-of-age series, which wrapped in 2022 after three seasons, follows five teenagers — Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), Michelle (Jamie-Lee O’Donnell), Clare (Nicola Coughlan), Orla (Louisa Harland) and James (Dylan Llewellyn) — as they navigate school, friendship, their parents, and other highs and lows of growing up. Armed with honest and hilarious writing from McGee, Derry Girls thrives because of the performances and chemistry of its Derry girls (and boy). Speaking of the ’90s, did we mention there’s a plot line involving a letter to former first daughter Chelsea Clinton?
