Charles Nieuwendyk (Ted Danson) is ready for his next assignment.
Few could resist falling in love with Season 1 of Mike Schur’s A Man on the Inside, the heartfelt comedy series about an aging widower who discovers a later-in-life calling as a sleuth. In his role as an amateur private investigator, Charles finds not only a jewelry thief at the Pacific View Retirement Community, but also a sense of purpose and true friendship with the other inhabitants, memorably brought to life by Sally Struthers, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and John Getz, among others.
Season 2 sees Charles back in his element, solving a case like only a man on the inside can — leg falling asleep and all. Watch the first three minutes of the second season now, up top. Then check out the Season 2 trailer before the show launches Nov. 20.

Season 2 may land Charles in a new setting, investigating a mystery on the campus of Wheeler College, but you can expect the same old Nieuwendyk charm and warmth that made Season 1 so inviting. “Ted’s magic is that there is no limit to the range of possibilities when he’s playing a role,” creator Mike Schur tells Netflix.
“Charles has to do physical comedy and be a goofball, and he also has to plumb the depths of his human experience to get to some essential truth about what it means to be a 75-year-old human being on earth,” Schur continues. “There aren’t a lot of people who can handle the goofiest comedy and the most serious drama and do both at a hall-of-fame level. There’s nobody who’s better [than Danson] at both of those things.”
Get ready for Danson to bring another round of laughs and sincerity when Season 2 of A Man on the Inside premieres Nov. 20, only on Netflix.
