Growing up doesn’t mean leaving the drama behind for the cast of Calabasas Confidential. From unresolved love triangles to friendship fallouts, the group spent the summer trying to shake off old reputations while spreading fresh gossip along the way in the new reality series.
Malibu cowboy Dylan spent most of the season “in the hot seat” between his former fling Jemma and newcomer Suede. Meanwhile, Kimora stepped into a new era with the launch of her first single, Emilie’s relationships with her childhood besties fractured beyond repair, and Preston — or “Messy Pressy” as his friends like to call him — found himself right in the middle of the drama.
But what’s happened among the crew since the cameras went down? Keep reading to find out if Emilie and Ben are still together, what Jemma and Dylan have to say about reuniting in the finale, and where everyone in the friend group stands today.
In the finale, it’s the end of summer and Ben and Emilie are smitten on the beach. “I’m already falling in love with you,” Ben says. Emilie bashfully admits — despite only meeting him at the rooftop party two weeks before — that she’s already head over heels for the Calabasas High alum. Ben was leaving for New York in less than a month, but the two were confident they could find a way to make it work. So, did they last?
“We did see each other in New York, but as of now, we’ve just kept friends,” Emilie tells Tudum. The two felt that knowing each other for only a month before he left would be “no basis to start a relationship.” A fair assessment considering the condensed timeline. Does that mean there’s space for Alexie to swoop in? Time will tell.
Childhood besties Emilie, Kimora, and Alexie may have been inseparable in high school, but this summer tested their relationship in new ways — from boy trouble to a total realignment of values.
Kimora and Emilie’s friendship hasn’t recovered from Kiki-Chella. “Honestly, ever since we had that big blowout at my house, we have not spoken since,” Kimora says. There’s still hurt there, especially because Emilie was staying at Kimora’s house at the time. “I just opened my home to her, and I feel like a lesson I learned was that she was never truly grateful for all the things I would do for her,” Kimora adds. “I definitely feel like she took my kindness for weakness.”
Emilie confirms she hasn’t reached out to Kimora since that explosive night, but she has reconnected with Alexie. “When I was in New York, Alexie and I did meet up for matcha,” she says. The two finally discussed what went down at the rooftop party. “It was pretty productive, and it was just a moment debriefing, filming, and getting to see each other again.”
“War is over,” Jemma announces to the friend group after a much-needed heart-to-heart with Dylan in the finale. The two have a long, painful history that started in high school when Jemma was Dylan’s “midnight snack,” which led to many — mostly one-sided from Jemma — screaming matches. “That conversation brought us, I think, a lot of closure,” Jemma says. “We were able to put things in the past and start fresh.”
That closure was immediately put to the test when Jemma snuck into Dylan’s room later that night. “I think she just turned off the lights for me because I fell asleep with them on,” he says with a cheeky smile. “She just wanted to check in on me, make sure I was all right.”
Whatever really happened that night, the two are now better than ever. “We’re in a healthy place, I think, for once in a really long time,” Jemma confirms. Maybe not friends, but certainly friendly. “I wish nothing but the best for her,” Dylan says.
OK, not exactly a love triangle, but Dylan definitely found himself at the center of a case study in girl code. In Episode 1, Nicole introduces her high school friend Jemma to Suede, a pseudo older sister and fellow influencer. The two become fast friends, with Suede ready to go to bat for Jemma when it comes to the boy who broke her heart. That is, until Suede falls for Dylan herself.
For Jemma, the situation reopened wounds she thought she had already moved past. “When it comes to Dylan, there are just a lot of emotions there,” Jemma says. “Suede not taking that into account — it hurt.”
Caught in the middle was Nicole, who had bigger priorities at the time, like house hunting. “When I was at the core, I was so mad,” she says, frustrated with Suede for putting her in that position. “But it was definitely an experience that I had to go through to understand how a friend group this big works.” As the summer unfolded, Jemma realized she and Suede didn’t “share the same values.” Now she’s glad she dodged that friendship “before it got too deep.”
As for Suede and Dylan, they’re in a much better place now than when they took turns walking out on each other during dinner dates. Still, Suede has some leftover feelings about her and Dylan not working out as a couple. “Never too late,” she says. “He’s one of my favorite people. How could you get mad at him for longer than a few hours? Come on.”
While the rest of the cast enjoyed the beach, the friends-to-almost-lovers Preston and Alexie pulled each other aside for a surprisingly honest conversation about where they stand. Preston even floated the idea of Alexie joining him in Miami for some one-on-one time. Have they finally broken out of the friend zone?
Don’t expect Messy Pressy to spill all the tea just yet. “I think we’re both in a really good place, and yeah, I’m going to leave it at that,” Preston teases. “I’m not going to say too much.” Looks like we’ll have to wait for the rest of the story.
Yes, the model lovebirds recently celebrated two years together — and became dog parents to a pup named Rudy. But despite the milestone moments, they still haven’t moved in together. In fact, they’re technically doing long distance.
“We actually live farther apart now,” Sterling says. “I moved houses to a little cabin in Simi Valley.” That puts roughly 50 miles between them — and, as anyone in Los Angeles knows, that distance can feel a lot longer in traffic.
“Still, it’s a cool balance because she lives at the beach, and I live in the mountains,” he says. “We can both focus on our work, and then we both get time together. It’s been good.”
