When we last saw everyone’s favorite American in Paris, Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), at the end of Emily in Paris Season 4, she was closing one door and opening another — literally. Emily pressed “pause” on her Parisian life in favor of a beautiful view of Rome alongside Italian businessman Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). In Season 5, premiering Dec. 18, she says “Buongiorno!” to those sights once again.
Season 5 picks up with a shirtless Marcello embracing Emily as she gazes out on her new city. Marcello begs her to come back to bed. Does busy bee Emily oblige her new beau’s request? To find out, watch the exclusive first few minutes of Emily in Paris Season 5 above.

The new episodes pick up after Season 4 brought turbulent endings and exciting new beginnings. Thanks to Emily’s budding relationship with Marcello, she secured a contract with his family’s luxury cashmere brand, Umberto Muratori, for Agence Grateau. The only catch? Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) has tasked the ebullient marketing exec with moving to Rome to open a new office.
We quickly learn that request isn’t quite so simple for Emily or her colleagues. Watch the clip to catch up with a few familiar faces from Agence Grateau — characters who’ve gotten comfortable living la dolce vita. Over breakfast with her lover, Sylvie bemoans having to return to Paris — until she thinks of reconnecting with an old client, espresso seller Bavazza, who’s based in Rome. Sylvie quickly rings Luc (Bruno Gouery), who might be closer to Bavazza than his boss realizes. Meanwhile, Julien (Samuel Arnold) is marking his successful Roman sojourn with a few souvenirs from a flirty liaison of his own.

It seems like Emily might not be the only Parisian putting down roots in the Eternal City after all. As Collins puts it in a new behind-the-scenes video, “There’s something about Emily, her search for adventures and new experiences, that speaks to all of us.”
Thankfully, Emily’s BFF, Mindy (Ashley Park), will be sticking around Paris after declining an offer to be a judge on Shanghai TV show Pop Star. As for news about the rest of the gang — Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Antoine Lambert (William Abadie), and Nico (Paul Forman) — and the series newcomers — Princess Jane (Minnie Driver), Yvette (Michèle Laroque), and Jake (Bryan Greenberg) — you’ll have to watch the rest of the season to find out.
Read more about the new season ahead of Dec. 18, when Season 5 of Emily in Paris lands on Netflix, espresso and gelato in hand.
