While most women wouldn’t land in jail the same night they marry the town mayor, Georgia has never been like other Wellsbury women. Her arrest makes things complicated with Paul and her kids, to say the least, causing her to fall back into some of her old behavior, and rehash some painful never-before-seen memories.

“Georgia is definitely pushed to her limits this season, and she has to survive scenarios she’s never had to survive before,” says Howey. “Georgia now has to be a survivor with less masks because all of her secrets are out.”

Dear Santa

Despite all the chaos at home and in school, Ginny has never been more in control, thanks to therapy sessions with Dr. Lily (Zarrin Darnell-Martin). Her mom’s predicament forces Ginny to step up in new ways — for her brother Austin (Diesel La Torraca) and for herself. “We were able to see a new side of Ginny where she’s really coming into her own, and accepting her decisions and standing by them, and making hard choices, but not being riddled with guilt or shame,” says Gentry.

Meanwhile, following her breakup with Marcus at the end of Season 2, Ginny’s love life gets even more complicated this season. Thankfully, she has newly reunited MANG and an after-school poetry class as outlets.

Raising Dion, Candy Jar

Austin’s shy demeanor is put to the test this season, as he’s further triangulated by his parents, Georgia and Gil (Brianne Howey and Aaron Ashmore). After all, he was at the Fuller house the night Tom died. What happened during that play date with Zack?

“Austin went through a phase where he wasn’t talking. He was sleeping on the couch,” says Howey. “There are cries for help, and [it’s good] to see that he has a community and is coming into himself and getting to be a kid again.”

Little Monsters, Lambs of God, La Brea

Witnessing his bride be escorted by the police midway through their wedding is just the beginning of everything Paul has to deal with this season. As the action unfolds, he struggles to balance his loyalty to the Millers with his mayoral duties and image.

Friday Night Lights, Speed Racer, Prom Night 

The end of Season 2 found Marcus — who’s Maxine’s (Sara Waisglass) twin, as well as Ginny’s neighbor and sometimes boyfriend — at his lowest point. Marcus loves Ginny, but had to end with her so he could focus on his own mental health issues.

The two remain friends, however, as they’ve always understood each other’s dark sides — and there’s plenty more where that came from in Season 3.

Turtles All the Way Down

The end of Season 2 hints at a love triangle for Max, Ginny’s best friend: Just as she starts crushing on Silver (Katelyn Wells), her ex Sophie (Humberly González) crops back up and asks to get coffee. Meanwhile, the people she loves most are going through it, and Max has to figure out how to manage her own anxiety while also showing up for them. Thankfully she has the spring musical as an escape from everything that’s going on around her.

Cascade

Abby’s body image issues and hurt feelings stemming from her parents’ divorce continue to plague her, but this season, Ginny’s other best friend explores a different side of herself and finds an unlikely ally in Tris (Noah Lamanna), her new peer tutor.

Clown in a Cornfield, Every Day

At the end of Season 2, Norah finally patches up her relationships with Abby and Ginny following MANG’s fracturing, and celebrates her three-year anniversary with Jordan (Colton Gobbo) over milkshakes at Blue Farm. 

Norah has always been MANG’s most stable member, but this season, her loyalty is tested by Georgia’s arrest. 

Ezra, The Protector

As one of the only other Black kids at Wellsbury high, Bracia has always been an amazing friend to Ginny — taking her under her wing when Ginny first moves to Wellsbury and helping her navigate being in class with Mr. Gitten, a racist English teacher. Over the course of Season 2, as MANG splits, Ginny and Bracia become closer than ever. 

In Season 3, Bracia comes into her own — both on stage in the school musical and in her love life.

Reacher, Fingernails

After being catfished by “Jesse,” aka Gabriel, an undercover PI determined to bring Georgia down, Nick is saltier and more doubtful of his boss’ wife than ever — and he makes it known to Paul.

Fargo, The Twentieth Century, Priscilla

Gil, Austin’s dad, is as menacing as ever this season. Even though Cynthia (Sabrina Grdevich) blacklisted him from the Wellsbury housing market, he’s found a way to loom threateningly in Austin and Georgia’s lives, and he doesn’t show signs of letting up.

“I get punched a lot in TV shows,” says Ashmore. “I think I just have a face like that. I’m much better at taking a punch than throwing a punch.”

Veronica Mars, The Thaw, Killjoys

Joe, who runs local watering hole Blue Farm, is the eye of the storm this season. His affair with Cynthia complicates Tom Fuller’s murder trial, as do his long-held feelings for Georgia. “I think it’s the best season yet on paper,” the actor said during filming. 

Blue Farm’s food (and wine) offers respite to the characters this season, and like his character, Ablack is drawn to the kitchen.  “In real life I really like to cook too, like YouTube tutorials on things,” says Ablack. “I want to sign up for George Brown [College] for their three-month culinary program.”

Narcos, Orphan Black

Zion, Ginny’s dad, steps in to take care of Ginny and Austin given everything Georgia is dealing with, but sometimes his approach causes more harm than good. His girlfriend Simone (Vinessa Antoine) helps guide him to be the best dad he can be.

“I think Zion has operated with the notion of ‘Georgia knows best’ and really deferring to her wants and needs that take up all the space in the room when it comes to Ginny,” says Mitchell. “He’s learning that he also has a right as a father to take up space in her life in the same way Georgia wants to take up space. There’s a respect for her as a mother that he has, but … [he also] has the right to Ginny just as much as Georgia does.”

The Boys, Supernatural

High-powered lawyer and girlfriend to Zion, Simone plays an unexpected role this season.

“I think she’s a wonderful match for Zion,” says Karen LeBlanc, who plays Zion’s mom, of Simone. “She’s not a pushover. And she’s got all the credentials that Lynette was wanting for her son, Harvard grad, the HBCU.”

Grey’s Anatomy, Plan B

With Georgia a little busy, Zion’s mother Lynette comes into her own as Ginny’s grandmother this season. Although her approach may be a little bumpy at points, her bond with both Ginny and Georgia grows.

“It’s a really lovely arc in the way it's come together,” says LeBlanc. “She shows up as what Georgia’s maybe always wanted and needed, and right on time.”

The Kings of Napa, Lovecraft Country

Ellen is Georgia’s neighbor and best friend — and her loyalty is put to the test this season. Ellen is married to Clint (Chris Kenopic), and as mom to Max (Sara Waisglass) and Marcus (Felix Mallard), she has her hands full with the teens’ ups and downs. 

Schitt’s Creek

Cynthia and Georgia’s frenemyship comes to a head this season after the latter is accused of killing the former’s husband. Cynthia has a lot on her plate in addition to mourning her husband — her relationship with Joe, parenting Zack as a single mom, and testifying during the highly publicized trial.

Grdevich hopes her character gets some relief after all that she’s had to deal with. “It’s hard being a single mom and just trying to kind of keep your head above water,” says the actor. “So I [hope she is able to] find some joy in that — in real estate or whatever it is that she gets into — to potentially maybe find love. Maybe it’s some sort of sexual awakening, because she didn’t have that before.”

A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Silver and Marcus often skateboard together, but this season, she spends some time with the other Baker twin, Max. Laid-back Silver and type-A Max’s clashing personalities prove to be challenging, however, and their budding romance weathers some ups and downs. 

The Bold Type, Anne with an E

Many things may be different this season, but Press being a jerk will never change. Between taunting remarks to Ginny about her mom’s arrest to mistreating Abby, Press does nothing to make the already stressful climate at school easier.

Pins & Needles, Surfacing

Also known to Ginny’s friends as “Poetry Guy,” Wolfe meets Ginny in their supplemental poetry class. Wolfe is the easygoing life of the party — an antidote to everything else Ginny has to deal with this season. 

American Crime, Brushstrokes

Tris, who uses they/them pronouns, is friends with Marcus, Silver, and the other people who hang out in “red” (the plush red beanbags in the school hallway). When they’re not skateboarding, brainy Tris tutors peers — which is how they start spending time with Abby. The two strike an unlikely but sweet bond that helps Abby in and out of the classroom.

The Last of Us, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

First hired by Georgia’s ex-husband Kenny’s (Darryl Scheelar) ex-wife (Megan Fahlenbock), Gabriel has been lurking in Georgia’s orbit for some time now. This season, he’s shed his fake identity as Nick’s boyfriend Jesse, but his vendetta amps up during Georgia’s trial.

Dark Matter

In a series of flashbacks, we learn more about Georgia’s past, and how she came to be the way she is. From her romantic scuffles to parenting two children by herself, what remains consistent is Georgia’s scrappiness and determination to keep Ginny and Austin safe — no matter the cost.
