Morgan Spector (The Gilded AgeThe Plot Against America) will step into the shoes of Harvard professor and world-renowned symbologist Robert Langdon in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation based on bestselling author Dan Brown’s The Secret of Secrets. Joining Spector is Rebecca Hall (Vicky Cristina Barcelona, The End of It), who will be playing Katherine Solomon. The currently untitled mystery series comes from Brown and co-creator Carlton Cuse (LostTom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), with Cuse serving as showrunner and writer.

Rounding out the cast are Cherry Jones (Succession, The Handmaid’s Tale) as Heide Nagel, Corey Stoll (Imperfect Women, Billions) as Everett Finch, Rob Delaney (Dying for Sex, Catastrophe) as Jonas Faukman, and Abbey Lee (Black Rabbit, Mad Max: Fury Road) as Sasha Vesna.

“The chance to work with Dan Brown to bring Robert Langdon into a new chapter on screen is a genuine thrill,” says Cuse. “I was drawn in by the combination of exciting elements. It’s a propulsive thriller set in a fantastic location: Prague. It’s also a great love story, and a provocative exploration of human consciousness. The chance to tell a story that operated on so many different levels really excited me.”

The series will follow Langdon as he races against ancient forces — and the clock — to rescue a missing scientist and recover her groundbreaking manuscript. The contents of the manuscript could forever change humanity’s understanding of the mind. Blending futuristic science with mystical lore, the adaptation will deliver the suspense, jet-setting intrigue, and era-spanning mysteries that have made Brown’s Langdon novels a global phenomenon.

“Morgan is a truly wonderful actor whose work is always filled with intelligence, thoughtfulness, and humanity,” Cuse says. “He’s the perfect fit for Robert Langdon — a brilliant academic whose curiosity, intelligence, and intellect are the tools of his trade.”

Katherine’s relationship with Robert Langdon will reveal a new side of the famed Harvard professor and symbologist who first appeared in Brown’s book Angels & Demons in 2000. “For the first time ever, Robert Langdon has a serious love interest — and that changes many of the ways he sees the world,” Cuse tells Tudum. “It’s an exciting evolution of the character.”

Published by Doubleday in 2025, The Secret of Secrets is the sixth of Brown’s novels to feature Robert Langdon. The other books in the series include The Da Vinci CodeThe Lost Symbol, Inferno, and Origin. Since the worldwide success of The Da Vinci Code, Robert Langdon, whose eidetic memory and puzzle-solving abilities help him unravel mysteries at the intersection of science and spirituality, has become a well-recognized protagonist in contemporary literature. Brown’s books are published in 56 languages internationally with more than 250 million copies in print, while the Robert Langdon film franchise has grossed approximately $2.24 billion worldwide.

Says Cuse of Brown’s novels, “They’re incredibly propulsive. They’re also deeply thoughtful and full of big ideas. But they don’t fit easily into the two-hour movie form. The chance to adapt one as an eight-hour series felt like an opportunity to fully realize the breadth and scope of what Dan does on the screen in the best possible way.”

Cuse’s previous television credits include Locke & KeyBates Motel, and Five Days at Memorial. Cuse and Brown will executive produce the series alongside Emma Forman for Genre Arts and Zoe Robyn.

The project joins Netflix’s growing collection of book-to-screen adaptations, including His & HersBridgertonThe Queen’s GambitLeave the World BehindPeople We Meet on VacationFrankenstein, and 3 Body Problem.

Stay tuned for more clues about the forthcoming series.
