ONE PIECE Recruits Xolo Maridueña for  Season 3

The Cobra Kai alum joins Cole Escola for the upcoming voyage.

    Nov. 24, 2025

ONE PIECE will sail into its third season with an ace in the hole.

The pirate fantasy adventure has recruited Xolo Maridueña (Blue Beetle) to portray Portgas D. Ace in Season 3, which has begun production in Cape Town, South Africa. The live-action series secured an early Season 3 renewal in August.

He joins recently announced cast member Cole Escola (the Tony Award-winning star of the Broadway play Oh, Mary!), who will play theatrical assassin Bon Clay in the third installment.

Netflix is familiar territory for Maridueña, who starred as karate sensation Miguel Diaz in all six seasons of the Karate Kid sequel series Cobra Kai. He also served as a special correspondent alongside his Cobra Kai co-star Jacob Bertrand during Geeked Week 2024.

Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) as he sails the seas with his Straw Hats crew: swordsman Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), cartographer Nami (Emily Rudd), storyteller Usopp (Jacob Romero), and chef Sanji (Taz Skylar). Luffy dreams of becoming the King of the Pirates by finding the infamous pirate Gold Roger’s mysterious treasure, the One Piece.

Season 2 will introduce a bevy of new characters, including the blue-nosed reindeer-boy hybrid Tony Tony Chopper (voiced by Mikaela Hoover) and the mysterious Miss Wednesday (Charithra Chandran).
