It’s time to close the door on another season of Perfect Match. But before we flip over that “Do Not Disturb” sign and leave beachside blind dates behind, let’s pay one more visit to the Season 3 finale.

After weeks of compatibility challenges, boardroom strategy sessions, and one love triangle implosion that sent everyone involved unceremoniously exiting the villa, a winning couple has been crowned. It’s official: Lucy and Daniel are this season’s perfect match.

In the finale, five final couples — Sandy and Louis, AD and Ollie, Madison and Freddie, Rachel and Ray, and Lucy and Daniel — emerged from the dramatic last mixer. Then, each enjoyed a romantic date before reuniting with the NRU singles who left the villa without a match. From there, the existing couples were confronted, past matchup mishaps were rehashed, and the Season 3 squad even addressed that thigh lick lie.

Once all the tea was spilled, it was time for the last compatibility test, Match Point. Host Nick Lachey put the remaining matches on the spot by asking a series of questions about their partners and their Perfect Match milestones, like first kiss locations. Receiving the highest scores in the game, Lucy and Daniel and AD and Ollie moved on to the voting phase of the finale, in which the season’s remaining participants weighed in on who should be named the most compatible couple. In the end, Lucy and Daniel, who were matched up for the entire season, won the title of perfect match and an all-expenses-paid vacation for two.

Receiving a winning number of votes from her fellow housemates was “so lovely,” but it came as a complete shock to Lucy. “I genuinely wasn’t expecting it to be us. I really thought it was going to be Ollie and AD,” she tells Tudum. The surprise, though, didn’t stem from doubts about her connection with Daniel. Lucy just thought AD and Ollie — who are now engaged and expecting a child together, by the way — had already progressed to a more serious phase in their relationship. “I didn’t feel like we were at that stage yet, but I was like, ‘hopefully we get there.’ ”

AD, on the other hand, wasn’t surprised. After hearing from the other participants ahead of the deciding vote, she “knew there was some fishy stuff happening.” During that final sit-down, Justine, whom Ollie matched up with in Episode 6, questioned his dishonesty about the extent of their relationship. “I’ve got zero excuses,” Ollie responded, before reaffirming his devotion to AD. “I could do this again ten times over and I’d pick her ten times over.” So while she and her now-fiancé Ollie didn’t win the competition, AD is at peace with the outcome outside the villa given the recent milestones she’s experienced with Ollie. “I wouldn’t say we didn’t come out as victors.”
