Get in the golf cart, we’re going to Cliff House.
The trailer for new limited series Sirens invites us to a mysterious seaside estate, where a star-studded cast of characters resides. There’s Michaela Kell (Oscar-winner Julianne Moore) — the lady of the manor and wife of billionaire mogul Peter Kell (Kevin Bacon) — Mrs. Kell’s loyal assistant Simone DeWitt (Milly Alcock), fellow wealthy neighbor Ethan Corbin III (Glenn Howerton), and the many hardworking staff members who make Cliff House run.

However, Simone’s older sister Devon DeWitt (Emmy-nominee Meghann Fahy) isn’t impressed by the monied “Easter egg” people milling about the waterfront mansion in Sirens. Instead, as we learn in the video, anxiety is rising for Devon as she tries to figure out if the enigmatic Michaela is Simone’s savior — or a “monster” threatening to drag her sister into unknown depths.
“Michaela and Simone are friends. They’re trauma-bonded. They’re codependent,” creator and executive producer Molly Smith Metzler (Maid) tells Tudum. “But they also really need something from each other. And what they need from each other shifts throughout the show.”

In the trailer for the dark comedy, Devon’s desperation is palpable as she travels from Buffalo, NY to the posh island to uncover what exactly is going on between Michaela and Simone. It seems like her urgency is warranted, as Peter makes clear that everyone tends to “worship” Michaela, or “Kiki” as her nearest and dearest call her — including Simone. Meanwhile, Michaela’s colorfully dressed friends swear their alliance with her gives them “power.”

As for Simone? She seems thoroughly addicted to the luxurious lifestyle her boss provides. In fact, Simone swears she’s the “happiest she’s ever been,” despite the many tears the twentysomething sheds in the trailer. But, as Devon takes in Simone’s preppy new look and the increasingly suspicious goings-on at Cliff House, she starts to doubt Simone and Michaela’s story and looks into what’s happening beneath all the polished surfaces.
Yet Fahy cautions viewers from expecting a murder mystery. “Sirens is really a show about relationships and the way people desperately try to outrun their past,” the actor tells Tudum.
So what is Simone sprinting away from? The trailer supplies some hints, revealing that the DeWitt family has secrets of their own. As Devon admits in the clip, she made the trip to Cliff House in an attempt to resolve the issues between Simone and their father Bruce (Bill Camp), who is suffering from a debilitating illness. While it might seem callous that Simone is more worried about plying Michaela’s rich friends with “sips and nibbles” than helping her ailing dad, the truth is more complicated.

“We watch Simone run desperately away from who she is and who she really wants to be seen as,” Fahy explains. Blue-collar Devon isn’t immune from those same feelings as she spends more time on the island — and around the billionaire class. Simone’s critical eye doesn’t help. “Devon becomes embarrassed. Simone starts calling out all of Devon’s bad habits, bad relationships, and the way that she mistreats herself.” As Devon says in the trailer, “no one knows you like a sister.”
