Don’t cry because Stranger Things ended. Smile because Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, the new animated series from showrunner Eric Robles and Stranger Things co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer, has arrived. All 10 episodes of Season 1 are now streaming.

Set in the Stranger Things universe, the series features characters fans already know and love — but with a twist.

“It’s got the thrill of being young, being a kid, and going on these thrilling adventures. But then there’s this essence of real danger, real stakes,” Robles, who also produces the project via Flying Bark Productions (What If...?), tells Tudum.

He adds, “This is one of the rarest opportunities that we’re ever going to get to be with the main characters. We get to go back in time and really just hang out with these kids.”

They’ll be joined by Nikki Baxter, a new character voiced by Odessa A’zion (Marty Supreme, I Love LA).

The Duffers and Hilary Leavitt are also executive producing via Upside Down Pictures, along with Shawn Levy via 21 Laps and Dan Cohen. “We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with –– the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues,” the Duffers previously told Tudum.

So, what is Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 about?

The year is 1985, it’s a freezing winter in Hawkins, and our heroes are about to embark on an epic journey where “the original characters must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town in Stranger Things: Tales From ’85,” the logline reads.

Adds Robles, “We soon learn that nothing is quite as they thought it was.”

The idea for the series came to the Duffers when they were brainstorming other concepts within the world of Hawkins. “When we started talking about was there anything else we wanted to do with Stranger Things, this was one of our first ideas,” Ross Duffer says.
