How the World Celebrated Stranger Things Day

Friends don’t lie: The fans brought it.

Stranger Things Day 2022 was one for the Hawkins High School yearbook, as fans from around the world came out to celebrate all things Stranger Things on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022. The date serves as an annual reminder of the day Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) went missing in 1983 in the series premiere.

Not only did fans celebrate online by changing their Netflix profile icons to Season 4 characters (EddieVecna or Argyle, anyone?), attending the Roblox watch party for the episode that started it all, “Chapter One: The Vanishing of Will Byers,” or shopping the latest Stranger Things merch and special collections –– but also attended screenings across North America to see Season 4, Volume 2 in theaters for the first time ever.

Fans dressed up as their favorite characters (some even learned to sew to make their outfits!) and participated in costume contests, trivia and special giveaways ahead of the showtimes. Check out these photos of the honorary Hawkins gang below:

But the party isn’t over –– in D&D or IRL

Just because Nov. 6 has come and gone doesn’t mean that you can’t keep your Hawkins spirit alive while you wait for Season 5. Here are all the ways you can honor your beloved party in the meantime, or, at least until next year’s Stranger Things Day:

- Get tickets for Stranger Things: The Experience in a city near you (and if none are around, you can request that they pop up in your city!).

- Form a Dungeons & Dragons party. But we’ll let you debate who will be Dungeon Master.

- Stock up on your favorite Stranger Things collectibles globally at the Netflix Shop, Stranger Things: The Official Store, and more here.

- Play Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales and find out how to unlock Eddie Munson in the game, here.

- Rewatch every season of Stranger Things, especially Season 4 for clues about the lore of the Upside Down that the Duffers say are to be unearthed in Season 5.

- Theorize about the meaning behind the episode title for the premiere of Season 5: “The Crawl.”

- Make Eggos, preferably stacked and lathered with whipped cream and chocolate chips (jelly beans optional).

- Learn the “Master of Puppets” guitar solo. Although, let’s hope you’re not shredding in the face of hundreds of Demobats hurtling your way.

Nerds, this one’s for you.

On Nov. 6, 1983, Will Byers went missing in Hawkins, Indiana. Long after the town gave up the search, his friends kept looking... and discovered a mysterious girl known only by a number: Eleven. She was alone, hunted and extremely powerful. Eleven would stop at nothing to help them find their friend. Today, Stranger Things fans everywhere celebrate Nov. 6 as Stranger Things Day, a special day to share their love for the series.
