The last time you saw Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), he was used to picking up the phone. Now he’s the one making the calls. The trailer offers a glimpse of all the thrills ahead as Peter finds himself fully immersed in the mysterious world of Night Action, a top-secret organization rife with lethal threats. After all, as The Night Agent star Basso says, Season 2 will unveil new deadly obstacles for his character. “I think Peter's trying to find his footing in this new world he's living in,” Basso says to Tudum. “He hasn’t had time to adjust.” The Season 2 premiere kicks off about nine months after the Season 1 finale with Peter already on a dangerous mission in faraway Thailand. “He’s just not getting an inhale moment — a moment to acclimate,” Basso explains.  

Creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan can’t wait for fans to dive back into the action with Peter. “Wait until you see the first 13 minutes of this season,” he tells Tudum. “I almost can't believe that we're finally here — that the world gets to see it!”

What is The Night Agent Season 2 about? 

Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, the new episodes pick up after the high-octane events of Season 1. Peter’s efforts to save the president were successful, and now he’s earned the opportunity to become a Night Agent. Working in the secretive organization Night Action in Season 2 will push Peter into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is in short supply.

• Arienne Mandi as Noor, a low-level aide in the Iranian mission to the United Nations in New York. She is looking to leverage her access to top secret information into a better life for her and her family.
• Louis Herthum as Jacob Monroe, an international businessman with powerful global connections that he uses to obtain valuable information.
• Berto Colon as Solomon, a former Marine turned right-hand man/fixer for a powerful businessman.

• Rob Heaps as Tomás Bala, a British-educated, rich, entitled and driven man. He’s desperate to return his family to power after his dictator father’s conviction for war crimes.
• Marwan Kenzari as Sami, a decorated soldier. He was court-martialed for another man’s crime and is given the opportunity to be a Night Agent. Fiercely intelligent, with a wry sense of humor and a hair-trigger temper, he doesn’t hesitate to act when backed into a corner.
• Elise Kibler as Sloane, a smart, savvy, and glamorous British socialite who also happens to be the girlfriend of Tomás. She knows how toxic her boyfriend’s family is and tries to convince him to break ties with them.
• Dikran Tulaine as Viktor Bala, a smart, dangerous, and manipulative man who was once the leader of his country. He has since been convicted of war crimes.

In the video, we see Peter jumping into the action as a Night Agent — and then being surrounded by mounting perils. Bullets fly and punches land, as Peter works to uncover a possible conspiracy in Night Action. All the while, the fate of the nation lies in his hands. Peter will have to rely on old friends like Rose as well as dubious allies — including Night Action veterans Alice and Catherine  — to survive.

How did Season 1 of The Night Agent end? 

In the last scene of the Season 1 finale, things are finally looking up for Peter — literally. He’s on a jet heading to his first mission as a night agent; Night Action is an “off the books” program under the president that investigates cases that traditional intelligence agencies can’t figure out.  

Peter’s promotion is his reward for unraveling a terrorist conspiracy within the walls of the White House and saving the life of President Michelle Travers (Kari Matchett). Peter’s love interest, former Silicon Valley CEO Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), is the one who walks him across the tarmac before his high-flying (and spying) escapade. 

But what does Peter’s new job mean for the couple? 

“That’s one of the big questions we’d love to answer in Season 2,” said Ryan. “What does Peter getting on this plane and going somewhere (presumably overseas to enter into some new wild adventure) mean, with Rose going back to California to try to pursue her Silicon Valley dreams again? We certainly have some initial ideas.”

Will The Night Agent return for Season 3? 

Yes! The show has already been renewed for a third season, which began production in Istanbul at the end of 2024 and will return to New York in 2025.
