You might be wondering what The Queen of Flow is about, and why there are already 235 episodes. That’s because this Colombian telenovela didn’t come to play. There are three blockbuster seasons — each with 60–90 episodes — that follow Yeimy Montoya (Carolina Ramírez), a talented singer-songwriter who vows to get revenge on the men who destroyed her career, killed her parents, and sent her to prison for 17 years.

So who else is in the cast? Alongside Ramírez (In the Mud), The Queen of Flow stars Carlos Torres (Medusa), Andrés Sandoval (3 milagros), Adriana Arango (Medusa), Mabel Moreno (Medusa), Marcelo Dos Santos (Rojo carmesí), Juan Palau (Vicente Mozo), Luis Alfredo Velasco (Jungle), Pacho Rueda (El Chapo), Diana Wiswell (Narcos), Mariana Garzón (Perdida), Kiño (Lady, La vendedora de rosas), Sebastián Silva (Club 57), Mariana Gómez (The Influencer), María José Vargas (Blood Ties), Guillermo Blanco (El laberinto de Alicia), Juan Manuel Restrepo (The Road to Love), Alejandro Otero (The Marked Heart), and David Ojalvo (El Chapo).

Of course, as a show about the Latin American music industry, The Queen of Flow also features special guest appearances from artists like Sebastián Yatra, Manuel Turizo, Karol G, Joey Montana, and Rauw Alejandro, just to name a few.

What happens in The Queen of Flow

New to the show or just catching up? Well, let’s just say Yeimy Montoya has been through a lot. In Season 1, a teenage Yeimy’s parents are murdered by her bandmate Charly’s (Torres) drug-running uncle, Manín (Velasco). When she discovers the truth, Manín convinces Charly to seduce Yeimy so he can plant a suitcase full of drugs on her when the band flies to New York. Yeimy gets arrested and sentenced for trafficking, and Charly steals her songbook and claims her work as his own. Juancho (Sandoval) quits the band rather than work with a thief and a liar like Charly, but that doesn’t stop Charly from signing to a label as a solo act.

By the time Yeimy’s released from prison 17 years later, Charly’s one of the biggest artists in Colombia. But Yeimy’s got a plan for revenge, and nothing will stop her. Teaming up with the Feds, she goes undercover as Tammy Andrade, a songwriter from Cuba, intent on infiltrating Manín’s drug operations through Charly. By the end of Season 1, she’s exposed Charly as a thief and a murderer. He begins a life sentence in prison, and Yeimy finally restarts her life.

If you missed Season 2, it picks up four years after the end of Season 1. Yeimy is a star, and she’s married to her old bandmate Juancho. She’s also reconnected with her estranged son, and adopted Juancho’s kid from a previous marriage — proving to herself that she can rebuild her family as well as her stolen career. But then Charly’s released from prison for good behavior. He swears that he’s a changed man when they cross paths on Charly’s comeback tour, but Yeimy doesn’t trust him.

Still, her feelings for him never went away, and as she and Charly spend more time together, Yeimy is torn between him and her husband. Manín also creeps back into Charly’s life, tempting him down another dark path. The finale ends with Charly choosing Yeimy over his uncle, and Yeimy choosing Charly over Juancho before heading off on a world tour.

What happens in The Queen of Flow Season 3?

When Season 3 rolls around, Yeimy and Charly are happily married with new albums inspired by their young daughter, Alma. But the two are frequently separated, touring around the world, so family time is hard to come by. In the explosive premiere, Yeimy’s plane crashes in the jungle, and the world wonders if the Queen of Flow survived. As Charly watches the news reports, his psyche unravels, and the latent darkness in him rises to surface. Will he be able to control his own demons long enough to protect his family from whoever took down Yeimy’s plane? And will he be able to keep it together long enough to find out what happened to Yeimy?
