Are we alone in the universe? It’s a question humanity has asked itself for generations, and it’s finally about to be answered — fictionally, of course.
Upcoming series 3 Body Problem is a sweeping story of Earth’s past, present and future. No stranger to grand storytelling, Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss serve as showrunners, while Alexander Woo (True Blood) co-created and wrote the series. All three are executive producers.

Based on the novel 3 Body Problem by Chinese author Cixin Liu, Woo describes the story as “a history of humanity from the point of first contact with an alien civilization all the way to the end of the universe.” Sounds like a lot to take in? Maybe the cast and crew can help. A tantalizing clip from Netflix’s annual Tudum fan event reveals glimpses of 3 Body Problem's globetrotting locations, and sees the actors discussing the series and sharing a few firm promises about the show. “People who have read the books will be stunned to see how it’s been realized in the show,” says star Jess Hong. “It’s going to be, visually, a feast.”
And co-star Liam Cunningham (who played Ser Davos Seaworth for Benoiff and Weiss on Game of Thrones) is even more adamant. “The people involved in making this will treat these books with the largest amount of respect that they possibly can give,” he says. Hear that, Cixin fans? This 3 Body Problem is in good hands.
Alongside Cunningham and Hong, 3 Body Problem stars Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Eiza González, Marlo Kelly, Alex Sharp, Sea Shimooka, Zine Tseng, Saamer Usmani, Benedict Wong, Jonathan Pryce, Rosalind Chao, Ben Schnetzer and Eve Ridley.
3 Body Problem comes to Netflix March 21. Has the universe ever winked at you?
