    Canelo vs. Crawford Packs a Punch, Wednesday Season 2 Joins Most Popular Shows

    Plus: The Wrong Paris charms viewers and Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Season 2 returns strong.

It was a record-breaking week for the Top 10 with a whole lot of whoa and a whole lot of woe (in the best way)! First, Canelo vs. Crawford broke records to become the most-viewed men’s championship boxing match this century. It also broke Allegiant Stadium’s attendance records with 70,482 visitors at the Las Vegas event. Then, Wednesday Season 2 made its official debut on the Most Popular English Shows list with 95.4 million views, joining the ranks of Wednesday Season 1, which currently holds the No. 1 spot.

In an unforgettable night at Allegiant Stadium this past weekend, boxing fans showed up for this history-making fightCanelo vs. Crawford knocked out the competition to obtain the No. 1 spot on the English TV list with 17.7 million views for the entire broadcast and an estimated 41.4 million viewers who tuned in to watch the main event. Terence “Bud” Crawford defied expectations, moving up two weight levels to defeat undisputed super middleweight champion Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez. 

Crawford wasn’t the only champion this week. In addition to landing on the Most Popular Shows list, Wednesday Season 2 took the No. 2 spot on the English TV list with another 15 million views. Viewers remain invested in Wednesday’s quest to regain her psychic abilities, track down a Hyde, and keep her friends safe in Season 2, Part 2.

In movies, KPop Demon Hunters danced its way back to No. 1 on the English Film list with 22.6 million views. Fans are also perfecting their dance moves to the film’s soundtrack, which just hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Trading in synchronized pop dancing for line dancing, viewers pressed play on the newly released rom-com The Wrong Paris, starring Miranda Cosgrove. The film swooned its way to No. 2 on the list with 12.8 million views.

From dancing in the club to leading a makeup empire, viewers wanted to see Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) step into her power in the return of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black. Season 2 of the drama series reached No. 3 on the English TV list with 8.7 million views. For drama among the younger demographic, My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2 continued to be TV’s most tantalizing love triangle, with the show reaching No. 4 on the list with 5.2 million views. 

New to the list this week at No. 9 (2.5 million views) was the South African true crime docuseries Beauty and the Bester, which chronicles the sensational case of “the Facebook rapist,” Thabo Bester, who faked his death to escape prison with the help of his partner, renowned celebrity doctor Dr. Nandipha Magudumana.

Meanwhile, true crime fans continue to be gobsmacked by the surprising revelations in the documentary film Unknown Number: The High School Catfish, which reached No. 3 on the English Film list. The true story of two teens who were cyberbullied for over a year by a relentless texter brought in another 11.7 million views. For a different sort of documentary, viewers were drawn in by aka Charlie Sheen for its raw and vulnerable interviews with the man himself, as well as many who have been close to him over the years. The film landed at No. 4 with 9.7 million views.

On the non-English film list, Indian musical Saiyaara captured the hearts of viewers with its emotional tale of two lovers challenged by the scars of their past, the pressures of fame, and a devastating diagnosis. The romantic drama reached No. 1 with 3.7 million views. In its fourth week in the Top 10, German steamy drama Fall for Me continued to intrigue viewers as it landed at No. 2 (3.7 million views) on the list. 

New to the Top 10 is South Korean crime drama Yadang: The Snitch, which took No. 5 on the list with 2.5 million views. In it, Squid Game Season 2’s Kang Ha-neul plays Lee Kang-soo, a man strong-armed into acting as an informant after being framed for drug possession. Seeking something lighter, viewers flocked to the debut of Kontrabida Academy, the Filipino film about a restaurant worker who is transported by a mysterious TV to a school for onscreen villains. The film reached No. 6 (1.5 million views) on the list.

Speaking of magical transportation, the time-traveling story of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, continued to lure viewers with its tantalizing culinary fare and tale of a chef who must cook for her life in Joseon-era Korea. The series reached No. 1 on the non-English TV list with 6.8 million views. At No. 2 (3.9 million views) was the new limited series, The Dead Girls, based on the book Las muertas by Jorge Ibargüengoitia, which chronicles the true story of the murderous Baladro sisters who ran a brothel in 1960s Mexico.

Hopeless romantics couldn’t help but tune in to Love is Blind: France to see the popular reality series finally arrive in the city of love, propelling the series to No. 8 on the list with 1.3 million views. Also new this week is Argentinian political drama Maledictions, which came in at No. 9 (1.3 million views) and tells the story of an ambitious governor who has difficult decisions to make when his daughter vanishes.
