Victoria Beckham Is About a Pop Icon’s Continual Reinvention

Go behind the scenes with the designer as she enters a new chapter on fashion’s biggest stage.

    Oct. 9, 2025

From the spotlight of global pop superstardom to the cutting-edge ateliers where high fashion takes shape, Victoria Beckham has always been more than meets the eye. Her journey from a determined young girl in England with her sights set on the world’s biggest stages to an international icon has been defined by ambition, reinvention, and an unwavering commitment to style.

The three-part docuseries Victoria Beckham, directed by Nadia Hallgren (Becoming) and from the makers of the Emmy Award–winning BECKHAM, offers an intimate look at her multifaceted life and career.

Central to the series is Victoria’s preparation for her most ambitious runway show yet at Paris Fashion Week — a high-stakes challenge that brings her past and present into sharp focus. For Hallgren, meeting Victoria for the first time in August 2024, just weeks before her September show, meant jumping straight in, with no time for formalities.

“We really just had to get down to it,” Hallgren tells Tudum of her first conversation with Victoria, who was in the midst of preparing for Paris. “There was no pretense or anything like that … I realized that she was in a place that was very ripe for self-discovery.”

Here’s everything to know about Victoria Beckham, with behind-the-scenes insights from Hallgren along the way.

What is the documentary about?

Victoria Beckham is mobbed by papparazzi.

The series traces Victoria’s story from her formative years and rise to unprecedented success with the Spice Girls, through her high-profile relationship with football legend David Beckham, to her relentless work to establish herself in the cutthroat world of haute couture. Following her journey as she prepares to unveil her Spring/Summer 2025 collection at Paris Fashion Week, the docuseries weaves together past and present to reveal the challenges and triumphs that have defined her — and continue to drive her forward.

For Hallgren, what made Victoria’s journey so compelling was her constant evolution and willingness to look inward as she moves into new chapters of her life. “Victoria had just turned 50, and so she’s also moving into this new identity in her life and this place of like, ‘Well, who am I now?’ And going on that journey with someone is really fun,” the director says.

She adds that the series invites audiences to experience not just the highs and lows of Victoria’s public life, but also her relentless drive to become something more: “She’s always striving, always questioning, always pushing herself to the next chapter.”

What is the Victoria Beckham release date?

The documentary premiered on Oct. 9. All three parts are now streaming on Netflix.

Who is interviewed in Victoria Beckham?

Donatella Versace
Tom Ford
Anna Wintour

The docuseries features the perspectives of fashion insiders including Tom Ford, Roland Mouret, and Anna Wintour, alongside close friends and family such as Eva Longoria and, of course, husband David Beckham. Securing such pivotal voices, particularly fashion luminaries like Ford, Mouret, and Wintour proved pivotal to Hallgren’s understanding of Victoria’s impact and evolution.

“When we started filming right before Fashion Week,” Hallgren says, “we were asking super high-level industry insider people to make space for us and give us their time. Fashion has a preconception of people being very snobbish and not open or warm … and it was the complete opposite.”

Is David Beckham in the documentary?

Yes, David is a key presence throughout the series, appearing in everything from playful behind-the-scenes moments to heartfelt, honest interviews that offer a deeper glimpse into his and Victoria’s relationship. Hallgren notes that part of what makes the Beckhams so fascinating as a couple is how they’ve been partners through every stage of their adult lives and careers.

“They have grown together in ways that most people may never experience in a relationship, and there’s something really beautiful about that and the way that they are now,” she says.

Hallgren adds that David recognizes how, as an athlete, he reached his full potential earlier in life, while Victoria’s drive to keep pushing herself has always been just as strong. “They have tremendous drive and ambition,” she says. “I think that drive in her that he saw really early, it’s just never gone away.”

What does the documentary reveal about Victoria Beckham?

Hallgren’s approach is immersive, capturing Victoria in high-pressure moments and private reflection. “A big part of this film is vérité, and we’re filming in the moment,” she says. “My goal is always: how do you create an environment where people are the least self-conscious?”

With cameras rolling as Victoria tackled her most important show yet, Hallgren and her team found themselves embedded in the real, unscripted action of fashion week. “She actually had real things to do that were really important,” Hallgren explains, “and that created a great opportunity for us to be just present and with her.”

The result? A rare, nuanced portrait of a woman who has continually reinvented herself in the public eye.
