What does your dad do when you’re not around? Does he sit in a big armchair and watch Grey’s Anatomy? Does he rake leaves? Does he play a free phone game in which he’s the mayor of a cartoon town? Or does he hunt vampires?
If your dad is Jamie Foxx, you may want to keep a closer eye on him. In the new Netflix action flick Day Shift, Foxx plays Bud, a Los Angeles pool cleaner who moonlights (or rather, daylights) as a vampire hunter. It’s not exactly relaxing work, but oh boy, does it pay the bills. As Snoop Dogg (yes, that Snoop Dogg), who plays what can only be described as a cowboy vampire hunter, intones in the new trailer: “Cut necks and cash checks.”

Look, at the end of the day, a job is a job, right? Whether you’re cleaning pools or adding shotgun ventilation holes to vampire grandmas, you’re just trying to pay the bills. And Bud has quite a few bills to pay: $10,000, to be exact. That’s a lot of vampire necks to cut.
Fortunately, Day Shift’s behind-the-scenes action pedigree is just what Bud needs. The bloody new flick is directed by first-time filmmaker J.J. Perry, who’s served as a stunt coordinator and/or second unit director on films from F9: The Fast Saga to Bloodshot to John Wick: Chapter 2. To make matters even gnarlier, Day Shift was produced by John Wick director Chad Stahelski, and written by Tyler Tice and Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum).

The trailer gives us a look at the neck-snapping, bloodletting gunplay this team has in store — as well as a glimpse at a very frightened Dave Franco pissing his pants and defending the honor of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. What more could you want?
Day Shift is coming to Netflix on Aug. 12. Don’t forget your garlic.
