[MEGAN STALTER] You were really hard to work with.
[both laugh] But it still was like one of God's greatest challenges he's given me.
[energetic music playing] Hi, I'm Megan Stalter, and I play the main girl, Ms. Jessica.
[WILL SHARPE] My name is Will, and my character's name is Felix.
[MEGAN STALTER] He plays the main boy. I play the main girl. What could be simpler than that? 'Too Much' is about a girl who's having a mental breakdown. I'm not the kind of girl you change the locks on. ****! And she has her chance of getting her shine back in London, and everything goes wrong that can, and yet she's still open to love in a big way.
[WILL SHARPE] That was a good answer.
[MEGAN STALTER] What do you think it's about?
[WILL SHARPE] It's loosely based on Lena and Luis’ personal story.
[MEGAN STALTER] Mm-hmm.
[WILL SHARPE] But it's been reimagined through these characters of Jess and Felix. It's about getting over your past to accept new possibilities in love.
CLIP
[MEGAN STALTER AS JESS] What? Ah, that is crazy!
INTERVIEW
[WILL SHARPE] I don't know if you know this, but Americans and British people, they both speak English.
[chuckling]
So the communication's pretty, like … But there's certain things that … there's a scene where she thinks you say, like, a really dirty sex thing.
CLIP
[MEGAN STALTER AS JESS] My boss had to talk to me today, and it was …
[WILL SHARPE AS FELIX] Uh-oh, did you hear a bollocking?
INTERVIEW
[MEGAN STALTER] I think I wanted to confront you about a lot, so I wanted to work with you because you … I feel you're an amazing actor but I've seen you in interviews, and I could tell that you have a bad attitude, so I wanted to work with you and kind of confront you and put you in your place. Also, I really love Lena a lot and have always felt really connected to her, and 'Girls' is my favorite show, so I would do anything she asked me to, but then to hear the story, I was like, "Okay, this is incredible and really special." I wanted to see if we had electric chemistry that was like, "Do they hate each other? Do they love each other?" You were really hard to work with.
[both laugh] But, um, it still was like one of God's greatest challenges he's given me. All joking aside, I love working with you.
[both laugh]
CLIP
[MEGAN STALTER AS JESS] Are you making fun of me?
[WILL SHARPE AS FELIX] No.
INTERVIEW
[MEGAN STALTER] Well, Lena Dunham's one of the funniest people of all time. And so, the show is extremely funny and it's very sweet and heartwarming. And you won't believe it, I cry on camera.
I just can't …
[both crack up laughing] One of the, you know, many fun things about this job was that every week you got to work with some other amazing person. And every sort of day was different, and every week was different. It would be so crazy who was in the show, that I'd be like, "Wait, it's not Andrew Scott, right?"
CLIP
[ANDREW SCOTT AS DIRECTOR] I'm gonna take the front seat.
[MEGAN STALTER AS JESS] Okay.
[ANDREW SCOTT AS DIRECTOR] By the window.
Separately.
[MEGAN STALTER AS JESS] From me. From me. I'll sit in the back.
[ANDREW SCOTT AS DIRECTOR] Separately from all the people.
INTERVIEW
[MEGAN STALTER] Okay. I couldn't believe it, and then I'm like, "Oh right. Everybody wants to work with Lena." "She's incredible."
[WILL SHARPE] I tell you what's gonna surprise them, the dog. Mia the dog.
[MEGAN STALTER] Oh yes, oh my gosh.
[WILL SHARPE] They're not gonna be ready.
[MEGAN STALTER AS JESS] Yeah. I love you, Grandma.
[RHEA PERLMAN AS GRANDMA] It's very possible I won't see you again in this lifetime. So give me a kiss on the lips. I'm only kidding. [laughs]
[drum sound effect plays]
