When it comes to love, meeting face-to-face is clearly overrated. But what about making music?
Building the Band, which is streaming now, attempts to answer this question by forming the next great music group, sight unseen. A group of talented singers enter the competition for the opportunity of a lifetime: to find their perfect bandmates solely based on musical compatibility, connection, and, most importantly, merit.
As for the contestants, they’re in complete control every step of the way, but is chemistry enough to make them a success? And when the bands finally do meet, how will looks, choreography, and style come into play? Expect plenty of drama, next-level artistry, and unforgettable performances. Keep reading for everything you need to know about this first-of-its-kind singing competition series.

All episodes of Building the Band are now streaming, from blind auditions and band reveals to practice sessions and performance showcases.

With his experience as a member of one of the best-selling vocal groups worldwide, AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys hosts the series. The iconic artist provides support and guidance to the participants through each phase of the competition until there’s only one band left standing. “He's very much that sort of big brother who's been there, done it, and knows what it's like to work in a band,” executive producer Cat Lawson says of the bringing McLean onboard.

Nicole Scherzinger serves as a mentor and juge in Building the Band, bringing her unparalleled expertise and personal band experience to the competition. Sharing critiques and pushing each group to reach their full potential, the Tony Award-winning performer helps shape the sound and style of each band from the moment they form.
“We're not some music label putting these bands together,” Scherzinger shares. “I come from several bands myself, so we see these singers as people, not as products.” Joining her are guest judges Kelly Rowland and the late Liam Payne, whose family reviewed the series and is supportive of his inclusion.
