Better fasten your seat belts and return your tray tables to their upright positions, because we’ve got some new Carry-On cast members coming in for a landing: Joining Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman in the airport Christmas thriller are Sofia Carson and Danielle Deadwyler.
Carry-On tells the story of TSA agent Ethan (Egerton), who’s blackmailed into letting a dangerous package get through security on a packed Christmas flight. There’s no word yet on who Carson and Deadwyler will be playing, but we hope they’re ready for some unexpected turbulence.
Carson is coming off a summer spent burning up our screens in the hit romantic drama Purple Hearts, but you might also recognize her from dance dramedy Feel the Beat or her recurring role as the Evil Queen’s daughter in the Descendants films. Deadwyler, meanwhile, has appeared in series like Station Eleven and Paradise Lost and last year stole scenes as Cuffee in revisionist western The Harder They Fall.

Also joining the cast are Dean Norris (Breaking Bad, The Book of Henry), Logan Marshall-Green (Lou, Redeeming Love), Sinqua Walls (White Men Can’t Jump, Nanny) and Tonatiuh (Angelyne, Promised Land). Rounding out the flight crew are Joe Williamson (Black Bird, Ford v Ferrari), Curtiss Cook (West Side Story, The Devil You Know), Josh Brener (Silicon Valley, All My Life) and Gil Perez-Abraham (The Batman, Our Son).
The new thriller is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who’s no stranger to deadly plane rides; his Non-Stop starring Liam Neeson remains the midair gold standard. T.J. Fixman (the Ratchet & Clank video game series) wrote the screenplay, with additional contributions from Michael Green (Blade Runner 2049, Logan). Carry-On’s pedigree doesn’t stop there — it’s the first film released as part of Netflix’s partnership with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners.
Carry-On is arriving soon. We’re just waiting for a gate assignment.
