What better way to celebrate the release of People We Meet on Vacation, the inaugural Emily Henry movie adaptation, than by announcing two more forthcoming films based on the rom-com author’s novels: Netflix will develop both Funny Story and Happy Place for the screen. The news came one day before People We Meet on Vacation premiered on Netflix.

Henry, who executive produced People We Meet on Vacation, will write both adaptations. “I genuinely couldn’t be more excited to work on the adaptations of Happy Place and Funny Story with Netflix,” says the author. “The entire team there has been so passionate about, dedicated to, and supportive of People We Meet on Vacation from the jump, and getting to do it all over again — this time writing the scripts myself — has been a thrill. I feel so lucky to have found this home for these films, among people who believe deeply in the necessity and power of this kind of story.” Check out the newly minted screenwriter holding the Funny Story script below.

Alexander Black and Natalie Sellers will produce Funny Story for Lyrical Media with Aaron Ryder and Andrew Sweet for RPC. Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina will produce Happy Place for Nuyorican.
