Quick question: When Sherlock Holmes is otherwise engaged, which amateur detective do you turn to? Why, that’s elementary, my dear reader: Holmes’ younger sister, Enola, is on the case. Fresh off her first mystery in 2020’s Enola Holmes, the precocious teen detective (played by Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown) is moving on to her first official case in Enola Holmes 2. Grab your magnifying glass, and take a closer look at photos and key art from the sequel below. 

Enola Holmes 2 sees the supersleuth taking on a seemingly simple case — the disappearance of a young matchstick girl’s sister. However, the job soon spirals into a massive conspiracy that will bring the first-timer on a roller coaster ride from London’s filthy factories to English high society. Enola will need all of her wits (as well as a few of her brother’s) in order to unravel the truth and solve the mystery. 

Mystery is at the forefront of these first-look photos: For starters, why is Enola in handcuffs? And what’s she doing wearing a prison uniform? Maybe it has something to do with another image that sees the budding investigator booking it away from the authorities. Hopefully it’s just a simple misunderstanding — maybe she parked her carriage in front of a fire hydrant?

The photos also showcase the sequel’s returning cast, including Brown, Louis Partridge as Viscount Tewkesbury, Henry Cavill as Sherlock, Helena Bonham Carter as the Holmes family matriarch, Eudoria, and Adeel Akhtar as classic Holmes confidant, Inspector Lestrade. Joining the crew are Sharon Duncan-Brewster and David Thewlis.

You can catch — or at least try to catch — Enola Holmes when Enola Holmes 2 hits Netflix this fall. Keep an eye out for clues.
