‘Love at First Sight’ Movie Trailer with Haley Lu Richardson Is Here

The White Lotus breakout star falls hard for Ben Hardy in this swoon-worthy romance.

Statistically speaking, if you fall in love when you first set eyes on someone, what are the odds you’ll end up together? Low. Very low. But in the universe of this earnest romance flick, love finds a way — no matter how improbable. Vanessa Caswill’s feature film directorial debut, Love at First Sight, stars SAG Awards winner Haley Lu Richardson and SAG Awards nominee Ben Hardy as young twentysomethings who keep losing and finding each other — from airport to airport and all across London. But, dear reader, will they ever find love? The film, narrated by The Good Place’s Jameela Jamil, is out Sept. 15 — just a few short weeks ahead of cuffing season. Cuuuute.

What happens in Love at First Sight?

A plucky American who’s a freak for literature and poetry, Hadley’s on her way from NYC to London to see her father get remarried — but it’s too late. She’s missed her flight. Lucky for her, there’s a seat on the next plane… for way more money. As Hadley commits to credit card debt and waits to board, she meets Oliver, a data-driven statistics major from the UK. There’s an immediate connection between the two. From that moment on, fate keeps bringing them together: They end up on the same flight (yay!), in different rows (boo!) — until Oliver’s faulty seat belt causes him to move into the only other seat on the plane, next to Hadley (yay!). The plane ride turns into one long date — they enjoy in-flight meals and a movie together, ooh la la — but it’s over too soon. As they land in London, Hadley and Oliver lose track of each other in customs before they even exchange numbers. What are the chances they’ll ever meet again?

Is Love at First Sight based on a book?

Yes. It’s based on the young adult novel The Statistical Odds of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith.
