And the winner is: [Julia Garner voice] Marty! Jason Bateman took home the outstanding male actor in a drama series trophy at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for his role on Netflix’s Ozark.
The actor and director was honored at the ceremony on Sunday night –– broadcast for the first time on Netflix’s YouTube channel –– for his performance as the Missouri-based, money-laundering patriarch Marty Byrde in the fourth and final season of the crime drama.
Bateman, who won the award two times previously, was nominated alongside Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Adam Scott (Severance), Jonathan Banks (Better Call Saul) and Jeff Bridges (The Old Man).
“They did say my name, right?” Bateman remarked at the start of his speech, before offering a “final thank you” to the Ozark cast as well as his family.
“Laura [Linney], Julia [Garner] and the rest of the cast taught me so much and made the show everything that it is,” he said before extending his gratitude to the entire crew.
“It's just as you guys know who are lucky enough to work on great projects, that was a great project because it was a great crew. It was a great family. People treated each other well. People had pride in what they were doing, and that's it," he continued. “I'm going to miss you all a lot. And thank you all.”
This year, Ozark led with four SAG Awards television nominations, including individual nominations for Julia Garner and Laura Linney, as well as recognition for the entire cast in the ensemble in a drama series category.
The series has been an awards favorite since its 2018 debut, with Bateman picking up multiple Emmy Awards for his work directing the series, in addition to multiple trophies for Garner in the supporting actor category over the years.
