On Christmas Eve in Victorian London, a bitter miser takes a magical journey through his past, present and future, forcing him to reflect on his selfish ways. Featuring Luke Evans, Oscar winner Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley and Jonathan Pryce, Scrooge: A Christmas Carol reimagines the characters from Charles Dickens’ classic novella.

Luke Evans

Ebenezer Scrooge

Evans stars as Scrooge, an unsympathetic moneylender who insists on collecting his debts on time, no matter the circumstances. When he’s visited by a host of spirits on Christmas Eve, Scrooge must decide whether he wants to continue down his path of greed or change his selfish ways.

Evans has appeared in The Hobbit trilogy, the 2017 remake of Beauty and the Beast and Dracula Untold. He can also be seen in Message from the King and Murder Mystery.

Olivia Colman

Ghost of Christmas Past

Colman voices the Ghost of Christmas Past, a lively and playful spirit who takes Scrooge on a tour of his past. Revisiting some of Scrooge’s painful memories, she reminds him of the moments that shaped him into the man he is today and implores him to learn from his mistakes.

Colman won an Oscar in 2019 for her role as Queen Anne in The Favourite and was nominated for another in 2022 for her starring role in The Lost Daughter. She also won an Emmy in 2021 for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown.

Jessie Buckley

Isabel Fezziwig

Buckley plays Isabel, a love from Scrooge’s past. While she finds it hard to accept Scrooge’s work collecting debts, she hopes he can change and focus on building their life together.

Buckley was nominated for an Academy Award in 2022 for her role in The Lost Daughter. She also starred in MenI’m Thinking of Ending Things and Wild Rose.

Sir Jonathan Pryce

Jacob Marley

Pryce plays Jacob Marley, Scrooge’s late mentor and former partner who instructed him to be merciless. Appearing as a foreboding spirit, Marley warns Scrooge to turn away from his callous pursuit of wealth or face punishment in the afterlife.

Pryce was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe in 2020 for his role as Pope Francis in The Two Popes. He has also appeared in The CrownThe Man Who Killed Don Quixote and Game of Thrones.
