The Gentlemen Cast Is Full of Nobility and Scoundrels

The cast of Guy Ritchie’s series includes some experienced on-screen gangsters.

    Nov. 26, 2025

Welcome to The Gentlemen, a series that exposes the nefarious underworld lurking beneath the polished society of British aristocracy. Like, literally underneath. In a subterranean bunker.

In Guy Ritchie’s new Netflix series, a British soldier unexpectedly inherits his family’s estate — and the enormous weed empire he never knew existed. Read on to find out about all the major players in this world, an extension of Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name.

Theo James

as Eddie Horniman
About the Character

The second son of the Duke of Halstead, Eddie joined the British army never expecting that he would inherit his family’s title. But when his father dies, Eddie, and not his older brother, is left the massive family estate — and that’s when the fun begins. As James tells Tudum, “He realizes that the estate, this crumbling vestige of the British Empire, has been propped up by criminality.” There’s another empire, a drug enterprise, underneath the property, and Eddie must “extricate the family from the jaws of crime.”

But now that he’s had a taste of true power — the power that comes with a life of crime — he might not be able to go legit again. Says James, “He used to think that he understood power being in the army, which is governmental. He used to think he understood power because he was a duke from an estate, but in fact they’re just the vestiges of power that once was. Now he understands that power lies in blood, and he gets addicted to it.”

Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass takes a phone call in a room with marijuana growing in Season 1 of ‘The Gentlemen’

Kaya Scodelario

as Susie Glass
About the Character

Stylish, sardonic, sophisticated, and steely, Susie runs her father Bobby’s criminal organization and surprises her new business associate, Eddie, by informing him of the massive weed operation below his stodgy estate. While the two butt heads at first, slowly they begin to form an understanding.

Scodelario tells Tudum that Susie’s relationship with her father informs her entire life. “She really respects and admires him. I picture her at 6 years old, sneaking downstairs, listening in to his business meetings, watching him conduct himself and how he controls the people around him.” And while she’s not afraid of the criminal world into which she was born, she does have “a healthy dose of fear” of her father. “But I think it’s more respect. She wants to do a good job. She wants to prove to him that she can keep the ship running while he’s away.”

Daniel Ings as Freddy Horniman wears a chicken costume and holds a shotgun in Season 1 of ‘The Gentlemen’
Christopher Rafael/Netflix

Daniel Ings

as Freddy Horniman
About the Character

As the heir apparent to the Halstead estate, Freddy has spent his life partying and dabbling in disastrous business ventures — which is probably why his father leaves the title to his younger brother instead. He’s “a proud idiot who is convinced that he is worthy of so much more than life gives him,” Ings tells Tudum. “It’s inherently ridiculous to have a person who has all of this privilege, this wealth, everything materially that you could want — and none of it is enough, because ultimately he does not have that title. He doesn’t have that word: duke.” Co-star James puts it more succinctly: “He’s kind of Fredo of the family.”

Vinnie Jones

as Geoff Seacombe
About the Character

Stoic Geoff is the gamekeeper of Halstead Manor. He knows every inch of the estate and cares deeply for the land and the Horniman family. Explains Jones, “I’m the confidant of it all. The lads come to me, and the duke would’ve invested secrets in me. I’m the protector of the family, whether it's secrets or whether it’s burying bodies on the estate to hush it up.”

Joely Richardson as Lady Sabrina walking, wearing a tweed jacket and holding a shotgun in Season 1 of ‘The Gentlemen’
Christopher Rafael/Netflix

Joely Richardson

as Lady Sabrina
About the Character

Eddie’s mother, the Dowager Duchess of Halstead, appears to be an upstanding member of British aristocracy — part of the horse-riding country set — but she’s hiding a more salacious past. Perhaps that’s why Richardson thinks that if the Horniman family had a Game of Thrones–style motto, it would be “Silence is golden.”

Giancarlo Esposito

as Uncle Stan
About the Character

Ultra-wealthy American Stanley Johnston is obsessed with the history, iconography, and architecture of the British aristocracy. That may explain Stan’s interest in the new Duke of Halstead — but he might also be hoping to branch out from methamphetamine distribution into the weed industry.

Ray Winstone as Bobby Glass wears a blue jacket and sunglasses in Season 1 of ‘The Gentlemen’

Ray Winstone

as Bobby Glass
About the Character

To hear Winstone tell it, Bobby is a model entrepreneur in charge of his family’s business. But it comes with a warning, the actor tells Tudum. “You’ve got to be very careful what you say about the Glasses — and who you say it to,” says Winstone. “We’re very stumbly-crumbly about it all. But I’m a businessman, and while I’m away on holiday, my daughter’s running the business for me.”

When Bobby Glass says “holiday,” by the way, what he really means is “prison.” But being behind bars doesn’t necessarily stop him from pulling some strings behind the scenes.
