The Gentlemen Scores a Season 3 Ahead of Season 2

Guy Ritchie’s world of aristocratic criminals has plenty more business to attend to.

Eddie Horniman doesn’t wait for permission to make his next move — so it’s not surprising that The Gentlemen has been confirmed for Season 3 before Season 2 launches on Sept. 3.

Creator and director Guy Ritchie says, “The ambition of The Gentlemen has accelerated, the world has expanded, and the consequences carry weight. A third season felt inevitable, and I’m looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further.”

Your guess is as good as anyone’s as to what’s coming in the third season, but the main trailer for The Gentlemen Season 2, which you can watch here, leaves no doubt that a bigger, grittier version of Guy Ritchie's aristocrats-turned-gangsters saga is coming your way when it releases on Sept. 3. Eddie (Theo James) is no longer the reluctant duke finding his footing in a criminal underworld — he’s scaling up his empire, and everyone around him is about to feel the consequences.

Lead writer and executive producer Matthew Read says Season 2 grew out of a core idea: “Season 2 was always going to be about Eddie expanding the reach of his criminal empire and testing the relationship Eddie has with Bobby Glass as the person he’s working under.”

If Season 1 was about Eddie discovering he had a talent for the criminal world, The Gentlemen Season 2, streaming Sept. 3, is about what happens when that talent becomes a passion that burns everything in sight. As for Season 3? All bets are off.
