“Humankind is a virus. Monsters are the vaccine,” the nefarious Dr. Lim says at the start of Sweet Home Season 2. The postapocalyptic Korean monster series has returned, and now special infectees like Cha Hyun-su are being targeted as Bamseom HQ runs experiments to develop a vaccine. But Hyun-su won’t go down easy, especially now that he’s forced to team up with the monstrous Pyeon Sang-wook. In a world full of monsters — and people on the brink of becoming them — is humanity synonymous with being human? And who really are the villains here?
Based on the popular webtoon, the action-horror series Sweet Home stars Baeksang Art Awards nominee Song Kang, Lee Jin-uk, and Lee Si-young. The latest season, directed by Sohyun Park and Lee Eung-bok, welcomes newcomers Yu Oh-seong, Oh Jung-se, and Kim Moo-yeol.

Hyun-su and the Green Home survivor group — now separated — continue to fight against monsters, and their own desires, in the series’ second season. Jung Ui-myeong, an MH who took over Pyeon Sang-wook’s body, has captured Hyun-su. The pair enter into a high-speed chase with the soldiers who’ve been tasked with bringing them in for experimentation in Dr. Lim’s lab. Yi-kyung, who’s far along in her pregnancy, has joined the soldiers and is part of the chase. She overhears her fellow soldiers say that they have no more test subjects at Bamseom Headquarters and are desperate for more — so they can figure out a vaccine. Could it be that her fiancé, Nam Sang-won, is being held captive there?
Meanwhile, the other survivors of Green Home — who are being transported to an area for survivors — are stopped by trigger-happy soldiers. The former Green Home residents, along with other civilians, are forced to clean up debris blocking the transport route. Among the rubble, a monster appears. Chaos ensues, but the monster doesn’t seem to be nearly as dangerous as the soldiers. Are some of these monsters more capable of humanity than the soldiers attacking and capturing them?
