Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo) is ready for his next mission.
Season 1 of The Recruit may have ended in a life-or-death cliffhanger for Russian asset Max Meladze (Laura Haddock) after her own daughter(!) shot her in cold blood — but that was just the beginning. Season 2 of The Recruit finds CIA lawyer Hendricks pulled into a life-threatening espionage situation in South Korea, only to realize that the bigger threat just might be coming from inside the agency.
Hot off his critical acclaim and Independent Spirit Award nomination for his heartbreaking performance in Celine Song’s Past Lives, Teo Yoo is joining the cast of The Recruit in Season 2 as a series regular. Yoo will play a clever and driven South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent, highly skilled with a subversive sense of humor and willing to go to any lengths to protect those he cares about.
In addition to Past Lives, Yoo is also known for his work in Park Chan-Wook’s film Decision to Leave, the romantic comedy series Love to Hate You, and the Russian musical film and Palme d’Or–nominated Leto, among others.

“I know I speak for our entire cast and executive team at eOne and Netflix when I say that we’re thrilled to be returning to The Recruit for a second season,” Centineo previously told Tudum. “I’m looking forward to seeing what [showrunner] Alexi Hawley has in store for us all.”
While Hawley created The Recruit, it was actually Centineo who first brought the script to Netflix and helped develop the story. In case you didn’t know, not only is his character the brightest young recruit at the CIA, but Centineo is an executive producer on the spy thriller series as well. Doug Liman, Gene Klein, David Bartis, Adam Ciralsky, Charlie Ebersol, and Julian Holmes also executive produce.
“I’m thrilled to dive back into the fun, funny, action-packed world of The Recruit,” Hawley said. “Seeing how invested our audience became in the show’s adventurous take on the spy world has been incredibly rewarding, and I can’t wait to turn it all up to 11 in Season 2.”
