Sex, drugs, and (attempted) murder. Netflix’s acclaimed UNTOLD sports documentary series returns in a major way this spring with four new films blazing with drama.
Premiering weekly — starting March 31 — these gripping stories extend well beyond the playing field and feature raw, first-person perspectives from those at the heart of the action, revealing surprising truths fans have yet to hear.
UNTOLD was developed as a documentary series by Chapman Way and Maclain Way and is produced by Propagate and Stardust Frames. Ryan Duffy serves as showrunner.

After an NBA career that included two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, former basketball star Lamar Odom was found unresponsive at the Love Ranch brothel outside Las Vegas. Through never-before-heard revelations and firsthand accounts, The Death & Life of Lamar Odom goes beyond the public narrative to expose the private struggles, hidden pressures, and pivotal decisions throughout his life that led to that moment. Premiering March 31, the documentary features candid interviews with Odom; his ex-wife, Khloé Kardashian; the former manager of the Love Ranch; and others.

Magnus Carlsen — widely regarded as the greatest chess player of all time — is challenged by rising star Hans Niemann, who capitalizes on the meteoric growth of online chess. Niemann’s ascension culminates in an epic, controversy-shrouded victory over Carlsen, eventually leading to allegations of cheating. Determined to clear his name, Niemann fights his way back to the top of the chess world, setting the stage for a high-stakes rematch with Carlsen.

In the early 2000s, the Portland Trail Blazers were an NBA team unlike any other, stacked with All-Stars and poised to make a mark. While their on-court performances dazzled fans, their off-court lives became the subjects of scandal, controversy, and relentless media attention. Through firsthand accounts from star players Rasheed Wallace, Damon Stoudamire, and Bonzi Wells, plus archival footage and other insider perspectives, Jail Blazers offers an unfiltered look at a team caught between brilliance and notoriety, examining how culture, race, and media shaped one of the most infamous chapters in NBA history.

Michael Barisone, a retired Olympic equestrian, took on a new student at his New Jersey farm. Over time, tension mounted between the two, leading to 911 calls, cryptic social media posts, and accusations of spying. The feud culminated in a shocking act of violence and a trial that rocked the prestigious and sophisticated world of Olympic horseback riding.
The UNTOLD series of sports documentary films has chronicled some of the wildest stories from the last two decades, including the murder of former NFL great Steve McNair, the epic 2004 “Malice at the Palace” brawl between the NBA’s Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers, Jake Paul’s unlikely transition from controversial internet personality to polarizing boxing star, and more.
