Just when you think you are heading down the right path in The Weekend Away, you get pulled in another direction. In the girls’ trip gone horribly wrong mystery-thriller, Beth (Leighton Meester) has to solve the disappearance of her best friend, Kate (Christina Wolfe), after a wild night of partying followed by fuzzy memories. Stuck in a foreign country where police efforts are lackluster, and with a newborn and husband waiting back home, Beth retraces her steps from the night before as mysteries unfold and pressure builds.
Could it be the taxi driver Kate hires to navigate the city? Or the ex-husband she has screaming matches with on the phone? Why won’t the police take the case seriously? The twists and turns keep coming, and with London only a two-hour flight away, the suspect list grows even longer.
With red herrings leading us down various rabbit holes, sleuths, we’ve put together a list of suspects who could be responsible for Kate’s disappearance. And that includes Beth, whose friendship with Kate is a little more fraught than we thought.

Friends since college, Beth and Kate connect again on a dreamy girls’ vacation in Croatia. When Kate disappears, secrets from the past come to light that expose cracks in their friendship.
Why we’re suspicious: While Beth only remembers pieces of that night, it includes tense moments — someone angrily calling out “bitch,” along with a fight between the two in the club. Could a drunken fight have led to an impulsive decision?

A refugee from Syria, Zain is a taxi driver who Beth entrusts to help solve Kate’s disappearance. During the investigation, the police reveal more about Zain’s background that puts his altruism into question.
Why we’re suspicious: Stranger danger. Also, this quote: “You’re too trusting.” (Why, Zain? We want to trust you!)

Sebastian is Beth and Kate’s landlord, who has a certain creepy presence. Maybe it’s his shifty eyes or the way he lingers around Kate’s undergarments, but he doesn’t exactly give off chill-landlord vibes. After Kate disappears, he's quick to offer Beth a place to stay, but even something about that doesn’t feel right.
Why we’re suspicious: While first impressions aren’t usually lasting ones, in this case, we’ll go with our instincts.

Beth’s husband Rob is taking care of their infant daughter back home in London. He’s been friends with Beth and Kate since college. Despite their long-standing friendship, he’s prickly about Kate.
Why we’re suspicious: Even though Kate seems flaky and irresponsible, Rob could be a tad bit more supportive when their old college friend disappears on holiday.

Jay is Kate’s ex-husband who lives in London. Kate alludes that he’s the reason behind their contentious divorce. Jay doesn’t seem very surprised when he hears of her disappearance.
Why we’re suspicious: The dismissive reaction when told about his ex-wife’s disappearance is a little odd. Could financial issues or bitter resentment spur something sinister?

Pavić is the police officer who initially takes on Kate’s missing persons case. He’s missing a sensitivity chip, and it’s clear he doesn’t take the case seriously.
Why we’re suspicious: He doesn’t do his job very well. It’s revealed that he never filed a police report on Kate’s disappearance. Could there be a larger conspiracy at play?
