To mark 30 years of the colorful franchise, Netflix’s new scripted team-up special Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always follows the old mantra, “Once a Ranger, always a Ranger.” The anniversary installment brings together a pair of original Rangers and some of their notable successors from over the years, as the heroes face a familiar threat from their past. It’s the perfect time to be reintroduced to the team that morphed into a global phenomenon. Go go (meet the) Power Rangers!
Starring as Billy Cranston, the original Blue Ranger, David Yost appeared in four seasons and more than 200 episodes of the Power Rangers series, plus 1995’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. Billy served as the brains of the Ranger team, with the invention of the wrist communication devices being amongst his most memorable contributions. Yost is the only actor in Once & Always to have previously appeared alongside every other returning Ranger.
Since leaving Power Rangers in 1996, Yost has primarily worked on the other side of the camera, both as a producer of reality television (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Temptation Island) and as a development executive at the Syfy channel.

Walter Emanuel Jones’ charismatic performance as the fun-loving and energetic Zack Taylor created a lasting legacy for the first Black Ranger. Zack combined his background in athletics and martial arts with his love of dance to create his own signature fighting style, Hip-Hop Kido. Jones has plenty of dance credentials, including performing at the closing ceremony of the 1992 Summer Olympics and on ESPN’s first annual World Salsa Championships.
Before finally reprising his role as Zack in Once & Always, Jones had previously returned to the Power Rangers world to voice other characters. Elsewhere, Jones made his first credited feature film appearance in Spike Lee’s Oscar-nominated Malcolm X, and has also appeared in hit shows like Family Matters, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, NYPD Blue and The Shield. He recently had a cameo in the 2023 House Party reboot, which shouted out his status as the OG Black Ranger.

Alongside the many fan favorite Power Ranger alums in Once & Always, newcomer Charlie Kersh makes a powerful impact in her debut as Minh Kwan, the teen daughter of Trini Kwan, the original Yellow Ranger. Kersh’s role as Minh pays tribute to Trini and to the actor who played her, Thuy Trang, who died in a car accident in 2001. The spunky Minh trains under the tutelage of her surrogate parental figures, Zack and Billy.
Kersh is an actor, singer, dancer and martial artist who got her start in the US touring production of Matilda the Musical. Already a tae kwon do black belt and champion, she was recently recruited to join Bullet Train filmmaker David Leitch’s 87North action team of rising stunt performers.

Australian actress Catherine Sutherland joined the Power Rangers franchise in the third season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, becoming the second Pink Ranger, Katherine “Kat” Hillard. Kat joined the Rangers after first being put under an evil spell by arch-villain Rita Repulsa, which included her transforming into a white cat that was adopted by one of the Rangers. (Don’t worry, Kat the cat soon morphed back into a human — and eventually a Ranger.)
In addition to also starring in 1997’s Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, Sutherland’s acting career has included a role in the 2000 sci-fi thriller The Cell starring Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Lopez, as well as multiple episodes on the renowned Australian soap Neighbours. She currently hosts the Power Rangers Playback video series on YouTube, alongside fellow alum Nakia Burrise.

As Rocky DeSantos, Steve Cardenas has the honor of having played both the Red and Blue Ranger, with Rocky starting out as the second Red Ranger before becoming the Blue Zeo Ranger in Power Rangers Zeo. Like the actor portraying him, Rocky is a standout martial artist.
Prior to donning the red suit again for Once & Always, Cardenas had largely stepped away from acting, instead focusing on his career in martial arts, opening his own studios and winning medals in competitions around the world.

On Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Johnny Yong Bosch picked up the Black Ranger mantle from Jones, playing Adam Park, a shy teen who slowly started to come out of his shell after joining the team. Adam also switched up colors, transitioning to the Green Ranger for Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.
Following his Rangers run, Park became a prolific voice actor, with roles in video games for Transformers, Naruto, Mortal Kombat, Dragon Ball Z, Star Wars and The Walking Dead. Additionally he’s carved out a position as a go-to voice for the English dubs of popular anime films and series including Akira, One Piece and Bleach.

Introduced alongside Rocky and Adam, Karan Ashley’s Aisha Campbell was an immediate target of the dangerous Lord Zedd. But once saved by the Rangers, she officially became the second Yellow Ranger, bringing her valuable tech experience with her.
Outside of the series and 1995’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, Ashley has guest-starred on numerous successful sitcoms, including Boston Common, Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper, The Steve Harvey Show, The Parkers and Kenan & Kel. Ashley also co-wrote the 2005 action-horror film Devon’s Ghost: Legend of the Bloody Boy, in which she starred opposite her former Ranger castmate Bosch, who co-directed the movie.

Barbara Goodson has voiced many characters in the Power Rangers universe over the years, but she’s best known for her work as evil sorceress Rita Repulsa, whose escape from a space prison and attack on Earth was the event that led to the creation of the Power Rangers. The actress was the voice of the primary antagonist in the franchise’s early run, including Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.
Goodson’s non–Rita Repulsa résumé is extensive, as she’s also lent her voice to Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, Stars Wars: The Clone Wars and Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
When the Power Rangers are in need, their most reliable resource is Alpha 5, a fully self-aware A.I. that acts as the robotic assistant to the Rangers and their mentor Zordon. Voiced by Richard Horvitz, the character, which gets an update in Once & Always, often uses a signature catchphrase: “Aye-yi-yi-yi-yi!”
While Horvitz has been a Power Rangers fixture, he’s also appeared on The Munsters Today, That’s So Raven and alongside Matt Damon in The Informant. His extensive voice work includes roles on Invader Zim, The Angry Beavers, Ben 10 and Rocko’s Modern Life.
