We have some scintillating news for you, dear reader — the kind of news so fascinating, it deserves its own pamphlet.
During Netflix's annual global fan event, Tudum 2022, Bridgerton stars Adjoa Andoh, Golda Rosheuvel, India Amarteifio and series creator Shonda Rhimes revealed an exclusive first look at the upcoming spinoff, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
Before unveiling a photo of Amarteifio adorned in a magnificent gown as the young monarch, Rosheuvel teases that fans only really watch Bridgerton “to bask in the glory” of the titular character.

Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury on both Bridgerton and on the upcoming spin-off, had high praise for both of her co-stars. “As a complement to you both, there is something so particular and fabulous about your whiplash, heartfelt, witty, sharp Queen Charlotte,” says Andoh. “India has absolutely grabbed all of that and made it her own and run with it and when I look at India, I see Golda. I see young Charlotte become older Charlotte and it’s a beautiful thing.”
Adds Amarteifio, “I’ve done my job!”

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story tells the story of the young monarch in the days before her excellent wigs and her quest to uncover the identity of Lady Whistledown. The series delves into Charlotte's and King George III’s (Corey Mylchreest) great love story and how it sparked a societal shift, creating the world of the ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.
“Working with Corey has been phenomenal,” Amarteifio tells Tudum. “He is someone I can trust and go to for honest advice. He’s someone who really, really cares about the job, which comes across in every way in his acting and in our scenes together.” Mylchreest has similar feelings about his on-screen paramour: “Both of us [are] incredibly excited, privileged, honored and overwhelmed with the opportunity to portray these incredible people in this incredible story.”

In addition to the royal romance, the Bridgerton prequel will also feature a younger incarnation of Lady Danbury (played by Andoh on Bridgerton and now played by Arsema Thomas) and also stars Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton, Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta, Sam Clemmett as Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim as Adolphus, Rob Maloney as the Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury, Freddie Dennis as Reynolds and Hugh Sachs as older Brimsley.
A release date for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is yet to be announced.
