It’s time to take attendance.
Never Have I Ever has allowed viewers to be wallflowers at Sherman Oaks High for four seasons as Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and her best friends Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) and Eleanor (Ramona Young) navigate their formative teenage years. Whether one of them is dealing with personal growing pains or the collective group is trying to get laid, the three awkward, nerdy and ambitious friends have experienced the highs and lows of high school.
But all extremely hilarious yet gut-punchingly sad things must come to an end. On June 8, the gang returns as seniors in the show’s fourth and final season. Before that happens, let’s get familiar with the many faces — and some new ones — on campus so you’re fully aware who everyone is before class is in session.

Devi is everyone’s favorite brilliant, overachieving, self-sabotaging high schooler who has a short fuse that often lands her in tricky situations. When we meet her in Season 1, she’s a sophomore still coping with her father’s death with the help of her friends, family and therapist. Now a senior, the stakes are higher, the margin for error is smaller and time is of the essence as she tries to accomplish her well-established goal of getting into Princeton.
Portraying Devi over the past three years has meant a lot to Ramakrishnan, especially since it was her big break. “I got this amazing opportunity that showed me what I love to do most in the world, which is acting. I’m so grateful for that,” she tells Tudum. “I started to really soak in what Devi meant to other people, what Devi has done as a whole for South Asian representation in a bunch of other different shows — that trickle effect. To All the Boys helped Never Have I Ever be a thing. It all helps.”
Ramakrishnan has lent her voice for roles in My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale and the 2022 film Turning Red.

Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar is Devi’s sometimes stern, always well-intentioned mother. She loves her daughter and wants the best for her so badly that her parenting style can come off as cold and restrictive, but much like Devi, Nalini is just doing the best she can.
Jagannathan spoke to Tudum about Nalini’s relationship with her daughter, Devi, from start to finish. “I think Season 1 Nalini is still very much in the throes of grief and can't understand this human in front of her,” she says. “Both of them are unable to show up as a child and mother. By Season 4, I think everyone really let go of their grief, let go of their anger. They've healed so much and they're really ready for this next chapter of their lives, even though it's really scary.”
Jagannathan has appeared in The Night Of, Big Little Lies and Ramy.

Devi’s sweet, smart and beautiful cousin used to live with Devi and her mother, but she recently moved out and is currently completing her Ph.D. Where Devi’s mother is the strict adult in the household, Kamala has a warmer approach to looking out for her younger cousin. While Kamala wants to focus on her career, her family wants to gently nudge her toward a more traditional life.
Moorjani spoke to Tudum about Kamala’s development throughout the series. “She's grown so much since Season 1,” she explains. “In Season 2, she was dealing with a sexist boss and learning to stand up for herself to get the credit she deserved for her research. Season 3 she was learning to stand up for herself in her family setting, fighting for the love that she wanted. Season 4, she's really come into her own. She's presented with a opportunity that is both thrilling for her, but also scary for her.”
Moorjani starred in Fargo and had roles in The Mindy Project and 9-1-1.

One of Devi’s love interests, Paxton has worked hard to prove there’s more to him beyond being a swim team star and campus eye candy. Despite his “too cool for school” persona, he definitely has an empathetic side and comes through when anyone needs him, whether it’s family, friends or even frenemies. Having graduated at the end of Season 3, our resident high school heartthrob is an aspiring college heartthrob.
Speaking to Tudum about Paxton’s arc and the character’s relatability in real life, Barnet says, “He started off as a very aloof character because he's ridden on his charm and good looks and being athletic, never having high expectations set for himself because his parents, in Season 2, they're like, if college doesn't work out, just come work at the store. So I think he had to find out how far he was really willing to push himself and where he really wanted to go when everything he had as a fallback fell through.”
“There’s a lot of soul-searching there,” Barnet says, “and I think that's testimony to a lot of young adults. I think the biggest challenge and maybe a mistake at a young age, is feeling like you have to have it all figured out when you're 18, when you graduate high school, or even when you're 22, when you graduate college and you don't. You just don't. I think as much as you're trying to figure yourself out at 22, you're going to be in the same place at 32, rolling with the punches and just finding what you love and chasing it.”
Barnet can be seen in the 2021 film Love Hard and heard in a voice role on Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles.

Ben is extremely ambitious, highly competitive and is, naturally, Devi’s longtime rival — setting the stage for a classic enemies to lovers scenario. Devi and Ben had a short-lived romance and now it’s unclear what Ben feels for his academic nemesis. Like Devi, Ben has his sights set on the Ivy League, except his dream school is Columbia University.
“You look at Ben in Season 1,” Lewison tells Tudum, “and he's someone who starts off as being very pretentious and unlikable, which Devi does tell him. He’s someone that's hard to love. I give so much credit to the writers for creating a character that is so complex, that goes on such a massive journey where you see moments of vulnerability and you get a chance to see who he really is.”
Lewison has been seen in the films Tag and Away & Back.

The ever-loyal Fabiola is one of Devi’s best friends. As the classic “nerd” of the friend group — she’s the leader of Sherman Oaks High’s robotics club and built a robot friend named Gears Brosnan — Fabiola is learning to navigate the STEM world as a queer woman of color. She’s also got an active romantic life of her own.
Rodriguez spoke to Tudum about the journey this trio of friends has taken. “They've been through a lot in the past four seasons and I think they are in a completely different place from where they started,” she explains. “They're not so much nerds — I mean they have still a little nerd in them, but they're a lot more. They did a lot of fun stuff and went to parties and got in a lot of silly situations. I feel like they set out what they wanted to do, which was have a really great high school experience.:”
Rodriguez has appeared on The Good Doctor, Class of Lies and Grown-ish.

Rocking eye-popping fashion at all times, Eleanor is the third member of Devi and Fabiola’s best friend group. Even though her mother abandoned her when she was younger to pursue acting, Eleanor still wants to follow in her footsteps. She has massive dreams and the personality to match them, bringing an abundance of razzle-dazzle to the trio. Drama might be her main passion, but she loves a good romance.
Young has had roles in Z Nation, Santa Clarita Diet, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and the film Blockers.

Trent is Paxton’s closest friend and he’s such a loyal pal that he tends to neglect other things, like his own education. While his areas of expertise are video games and vibes, he does have a soft, unconventionally charming side.
“The way I read him was the really silly best friend to the hot guy (Paxton) and that's exactly how I played it,” Norris tells Tudum. “I wanted to play it earnest and genuine. I wanted my entire MO to be to support Paxton no matter what. That’s how it started. Then, here we are on the fourth season and he really is his own living, breathing entity. He has his own life and his own desires and his own insecurities. I give it up to Mindy [Kaling] and Lang [Fisher] and the writers for really making him super three-dimensional.”
Norris has previously appeared on Superstore.

Bad boy skater Ethan had a growth spurt over the summer break that’s drawing attention from several admirers.
Cimino told Tudum what we can expect from Ethan: “I want viewers to know Ethan is that guy that you did know in high school. I did know a guy just like that in high school and I wanted to be that guy because everyone has one of those skater bros at their school. He knows that this is his moment so he has no problem with seizing it and doing his thing, flirting with whoever he wants to flirt with.”
Cimino has starred in Love, Victor, voiced a character in Hamster & Gretel and appeared in How I Met Your Father, Hamster & Gretel and the Netflix film, Senior Year.

Caring, patient and honest, Dr. Ryan is Devi’s therapist. She helps Devi work through her grief about her father’s death and the mixed bag of other personal problems that come with being in high school. She’s probably the only person who can call Devi on her BS.

She’s usually worked up when we see her, but that’s probably because Principal Grubbs has to speak to Devi more often than any disciplinarian should have to see a student. Though she may be the chief of dishing out punishment, she’s pretty reasonable and often unintentionally funny.
Brown starred in 9-1-1, P-Valley and For Better or Worse.
