🤐 SPOILER ALERT 🤐
While we’ve gotten to know the students and teachers of Sherman Oaks High School over the years on Never Have I Ever, some of their faces are more familiar than others. The guest star roster on this show is strong, so we’ve rounded up the best, most memorable appearances from all four seasons of the series.
The coming-of-age comedy stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as overachieving teen Devi Vishwakumar; Jaren Lewison and Darren Barnet as her love interests Ben Gross and Paxton Hall-Yoshida; Lee Rodriguez and Ramona Young as her nerdy best friends Fabiola and Eleanor; and Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani and Ranjita Chakravarty as her mom, Nalini; cousin, Kamala; and grandmother, Nirmala. But beyond Devi’s friends and family, she’s supported by a whole host of illustrious guests. Read on to meet them.
A note: We’re not including significant or multi-season recurring roles, so while we love characters like Mr. Shapiro (Adam Shapiro), he doesn’t count toward this list because he’s around too much. Just how we like it.

John McEnroe as himself (right) in Season 1 of Never Have I Ever.
The tennis superstar, known for his volatile temper, does Devi’s voice-over in nearly every episode. Sounds strange, but Devi struggles with her own anger issues — plus McEnroe was her dad’s favorite tennis player. While we hear McEnroe’s voice throughout the series, we actually see him once, when he makes a cameo as himself in the Season 1 finale.

The first man Nalini dates following the tragic death of her husband is Dr. Jackson, a rival dermatologist who arrives in Season 2. He’s played by Grammy- and Oscar-winner Common, a performer and activist who has segued from music into a thriving acting career.

You know Locke’s face from series including Eureka, Sliders, Raising Dad and Beverly Hills, 90210, but you know her life story from her memoir-turned-hit Netflix series From Scratch, about how she met, loved and lost her Italian husband. On NHIE, she plays Fab’s mom, Elise.

Angela Kinsey as Vivian (left) in Season 1 of Never Have I Ever.
The Office veteran Kinsey pops up several times as Ben’s often absent mom, Vivian.

While Devi’s story is narrated by a voice-over from tennis great McEnroe, it’s SNL and sitcom vet Samberg whose voice we hear when the focus shifts to Ben’s point of view.

Alexandra Billings as Jennifer Warner (right) in Season 4 of Never Have I Ever.
Sherman Oaks High’s College admissions counselor is played by groundbreaking trans actor and activist Billings, who’s known for her roles on series including Transparent, Goliath, The Conners and many more.

If you saw new Sherman Oaks High Schooler Parker and thought, “wow, that teen looks like a fusion of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe,” that’s because Phillippe is the son of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe and is making his acting debut.

Devi has McEnroe and Ben has Samberg, but it’s the supermodel and Next in Fashion host who tells us what’s going on inside the head of fellow hot person Paxton Hall-Yoshida.

The comedy legend’s cameo is meta, since he makes a cameo in a Cameo video.

Howard might be an eight-time NBA All-Star, but he is absolutely the wrong person to go to for relationship advice. When Ben runs into him at the gym following his hookup with Devi, the big man points him very much in the wrong direction. Lewison tells Tudum, “Not to blame anybody, but my man Dwight Howard, he gives some pretty terrible advice. He’s a great guy, but not great for the future of Benvi, I believe is the relationship name moniker there.”

It honestly might be futile to list Gavankar’s credits to help you realize where you recognize her from, but we’ll try: Big Sky, The Morning Show, Sleepy Hollow, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, The League, The L Word — you know, maybe just scroll her resume yourself. In NHIE, she plays a Princeton admissions officer who helps Devi figure out how to get into her dream school.

Pete Gardner as Coach Noble (left) in Season 4 of Never Have I Ever.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend fans, rejoice: Everyone’s favorite lovable bisexual lawyer Darryl has a new gig. Actor Gardner pops up in NHIE Season 4 as the Sherman Oaks swim team head coach and Paxton’s new boss.

After a nightmare, misogynistic work situation in Season 2, Kamala’s new mentor Dr. Logan is a breath of fresh air. Logan is played by Wayne’s World star and General Hospital and Dancing With the Stars alum Carrere. You can also catch her in AJ and the Queen.

Marino frequently plays hapless characters, and his limo driver is no exception. Spoiler alert: Devi, Fab and Eleanor do not make it to prom. Marino has a lengthy list of credits including Wet Hot American Summer and its associated series, Party Down, Burning Love, Childrens Hospital, Veronica Mars, The Babysitter and a whole lot more.

You’ll recognize Jaya, a divorced outcast from the local Indian community whom we meet in Season 1, as ambitious CIA lawyer Violet in The Recruit.
