Eager for new details about Netflix’s upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series? You’re barking up the right tree.

In the new teaser above, Scooby-Doo: Origins’ titular pup — the franchise's first-ever real-dog Scooby-Doo — sniffs around the woods until he spots Shaggy Rogers (Tanner Hagen) wandering nearby. Then, at the tail-end of the clip, viewers get their first glimpse of the live-action, floppy-eared canine in his iconic teal collar as he’s cradled by his new best friend. And yes, he’s every bit the good boy fans hoped he’d be.

For more than 50 years, Scooby-Doo has been a pop-culture powerhouse. The franchise has spawned three theatrical films, more than a dozen animated series, and nearly 40 animated home entertainment movies. But Scooby-Doo: Origins marks the first time Scooby-Doo will appear as a real dog. Can we get a round of a-paws for the new pup?

Premiering in 2027, Scooby-Doo: Origins will follow Shaggy and his old pal Daphne Blake (Mckenna Grace) during their final summer at camp, as seen in the new teaser. The teens become embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder. With help from the pragmatic and scientific townie Velma Dinkley (Abby Ryder Fortson) and the strange but ever-so-handsome new kid Fred Jones (Maxwell Jenkins), they set out to solve the case that’s pulling them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all their secrets. Based on the characters from the Hanna-Barbera cartoon, the beloved group of teens and their very special dog will explore the terrifying case that first brought Mystery Inc. together.

Another clue? Paul Walter Hauser has also been cast in an undisclosed role, alongside the crew of meddling kids. Production on the live-action adventure kicked off in Atlanta in April.

The series is being executive produced by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, as well as Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman (via Berlanti Productions) and André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Adrienne Erickson (via Midnight Radio). Toby Haynes will also serve as an executive producer and direct the premiere episode.

Stay tuned as Tudum continues to track Scooby-Doo: Origins updates.
