The Ultimatum: Queer Love makes one thing abundantly clear: Straight couples don’t have a monopoly on commitment issues.

All episodes are streaming now on Netflix, following the Season 2 couples’ journey of intense self-discovery and connection.
Get ready for parasailing dates and poolside confrontations, because this time around, a group of couples based in Miami are entering the experiment.

Actor JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Sweet Magnolias, Gossip Girl, Reba) returns to host the season and support the couples through each phase of the experiment, as they temporarily split up, date, get trial married, and reunite before deciding if they can actually say “I do” — and to whom.
“I loved the idea of hosting a show, but when it was an opportunity to help tell this story of celebrating queer love, I thought, ‘Yes, this is the right moment’ and I just jumped in with two feet,” Garcia Swisher previously told Tudum. “We cannot ignore the importance of celebrating queer relationships. There are incredible complexities and nuances to them that should be respected, but in many ways, they’re exactly the same as a non-queer relationship. We all deserve our happy ending — whatever that looks like.”

This season, six new couples are putting their relationships on the line to find out if they’re with the right person. The couples are AJ and Britney, Marie and Mel, Haley and Pilar, Dayna and Magan, Bridget and Kyle, and Ashley and Marita. To learn more about them, including which partner gave the ultimatum, why the other isn’t ready for marriage, and other details like their first queer crush and astrological signs, check out Tudum’s guide to the Season 2 couples.

The couples enter the experiment because one of them has issued an ultimatum: Marry me or move on. First, the couples split up to date and get to know the other newly single women and non-binary participants. Then, each must make a choice of who — besides their original partner — they’d like to enter a trial marriage with. After living together as trial spouses for three weeks, all the participants meet back up at the changeover, where they get back together with their original partners. Following another three-week trial marriage, each person must decide if they’re ready for the real thing. Will they get engaged to their original partner or pursue a relationship with their first trial spouse? Or will they choose to leave the experiment alone?
